Damn, the sop just called me saying they had a problem with the dyno yesterday. They said one of their race cars ripped the floor underneath it or something, cause it came off the rollers. So they don't know if it damaged the dyno itself, but can't put any cars on the dyno until they replace the floor. Damnit! I'm going to see what other shops around here are available for me tomorrow. Give me a few minutes to make some phone calls and research...

Alright, that was quick, got the number to 2 shops around here with a dyno. I'm going to give them a call right now. Give me another few minutes to see what I can do.

Also, update on that 528whp 2nd Gen. Tony over at Jotech told me he has no memory of a CL coming in putting that kind of power.

Sweet, that was fast. Have the appointment for 11am. Again 3 pulls, this time, over at Alamo Autosports. And it's $25 cheaper.

I've been alright. just keeping busy, but not doing much to the car anymore. I went to the track on wednesday and did godawful on the 1 run I got in before it started raining.

as for the planned turbo kit. I don't think my current engine would handle it for very long, so I'm gonna hold off and save up and probably just swap in a j32. that won't come for a while though since my income at the moment wouldn't allow for any additional problems that might arise on that. plus I can't afford to not have a car for more than a week with my job and school taking up so much time.

hopefully I'll get the money together soon... or maybe my engine will blow and I'll be forced to do the swap, lol.

nothing left for me to do performance-wise short of a swap, boost or spray.

I can't wait to see the results.

yea, i think 220 is too low though. the engine its self is 260 and 15% loss to the drivetrain should be about 220.

That is correct. Stock they put down about 217-219whp (6 spd).

Alright, back. Anyways, here are the numbers. Went to 2 different shops today to back up the number I got from the other shop. Jotech called me this afternoon to tell me their dyno was working again.

222.7 whp/ 209.5 lbs tq NA (Jotech Motorsports)
224.6 whp/ 209.0 lbs tq NA (Jotech Motorsports)
229.7 whp/ 217.3 lbs tq NA (Alamo Autosports)

317.9whp/ 377.7 lbs tq Nitrous (Jotech)

Now, there were a few issues that I have to let you guys know about. On the bottle, coolant spurs out from the resivour indicating there could be a compression leak. Also, there is oil coming out from the side of the block coming by the head, also indicating there might be a blown head gasket. I have the check engine light on, which we couldn't figure out where to plug the scanner to, to check the codes. I wouldn't be surprised if my car was in limp mode. It's also missfiring. I'm going to have the car back at the shop if I can't find the plug this weekend. They said they'll just go by the book and go from there. So, with that said, IF the car is in limp mode, and IF I truely have a blown head gasket, then that would explain the low numbers.

oh and youd be surprised how low dynos can go, I did a baseline on mine a while back with just intake/exhaust and I got a measly 100WHP/110WTQ........ rated at 145HP and 147 TQs, and ill say as a nice even number 150 after intake/exhaust on both HP and TQ.......... 1/3 (33.3%) drivetrain loss or something was up, but then again it IS an auto gearbox...... a dying auto gear box to top it all off

there are 2 other dynos closer to home for us, Mikes Customs on SH26 and ICC on Northwest Hwy.

then theres GOtham Racing in Watauga off 377......... got a friend that works there, and their dyno is a brand new 4WD Mustang unit

those are other options for ya to look at, ive heard not to go to Alamo from some people and I dunno what to make of it all

Also, at Jotech, I saw the guy take it to 7200rpms on my tach, but on the dyno, it shows only 6900 rpms. I'm going to just take a pic of it with a camera for now, and I'll deal with scanning it when I get back tonight.

Shit, I thought I had a scanner, but it's only a printer. Anyone know if I can still scan it somehow? Taking pics didn't work, cause it came out all white.

maybe u should ship the car back to cali and have the mechanic tear ur block apart. u don't want to do permanent damage. u dont want the mad scientist to get angry

I can shoot a pic of it for ya or you can do it yourself, all ya gotta do is get a well lit room, turn off the camera flash, set the macro mode (the little flower icon mode) hold the camera close enough to the paper while very still as the shuter is cycling and you should have it from there

So your vtec is at the stock point. Well, either way hope you get your car fixed soon, so we can really see what that 3.5 can do in the high end.

nothing wrong with your car, that's just the real numbers for that set-up. if you have headers and other mods you should get something like Apexi Neo to tune it, that should be in the vecinity of 270whp 270wtq NA

lol @ 350+ wtq pre-4k rpms. assuming everything is working properly with the engine, then this graph seems to show that you might need some breathing modification for a higher top end.

I'm sure you've got a huge exaust so maybe the throttle body isn't big enough stock for the 3.5L at those higher rpms. possible porting job needed?
