CLs are slow?
Ok guys.. and gals... I havent really ever tried to get up and race anyone in my 3.0CL... I figured whats the point? Everyone on here said o my CL is slow yadda yadda... well... I dont believe that anymore. After kicking a new civic SI's ass... I decided what the hay, lets see what else I could beat. These are the results, all from a stop with a 2200 rpm power brake (I know I know its bad for the car but these things dont launch) unless otherwise noted.
-2003 Civic Si - 0 to 100 I pulled about 3 or 4 car lengths
-1998 Mustang GT - even up to like 60.. he had a bad launch but still...
-Lexus IS-300 - even up to like 60 and then there was traffic so we had to let off
This one I dont get though... I raced my friend's WRX non STI. It has a boost controller... chip... intake... highflow cat and an exhaust... and I think thats it. Its running 18 psi o' boost. We did a rolling start cuz he is tired of roasting his clutch (1200 a pop gets expensive) from a 10-70 roll he pulled 3/4 or maybe 1. HOW THE HELL.... he can drive the thing really well... didnt miss any shifts... and we were both like what the fuck? I know you are all going to say he cant drive but honestly... he can and was.
Has anyone else raced any of these cars? what were the results? What can I beat? Its a stock 3.0.... minus the 200 pounds of amps and subs =0) flame away and tell me Im lying... but also tell me what else I can beat or how I will do against other stuff.

raced all but the IS300....beat them, except the WRX. He said he wasnt trying, and at other times he said he was. He wouldnt tell us what the damn deal was, but i took him. But i dont count it as a win until he says he was trying his %100. When it comes to those Gt mustangs, you can take them if they get a bad launch. But not the new ones. If you wanna win against them for sure, get NOS. Nice kills

as a previous owner of a 3.0cl and a current owner of a wrx I can tell you the wrx is faster from a roll up to about 70. As for your friend tell him to turn the boost down. Anything over 16.5psi on a stock turbo is not only a waste but is actually making his car slower, and the intake is a bad idea too, unless his chip is programed for it.

I suppose, considering most of them aren't much slower
Let's see base RSX, and RSX-S, SI, S2000, all the new Acuras, Hell the Odyssey will take us. I even think the base civic w/ a stick may give a 3.0 a good run.

i mean, think about it in 1997. i was at the top of the food chain... now imagine an '03 CL-s 6 speed. whats faster than that? the s2000? and the NSX? you know what i mean? in 1997 the only faster cars were the Ludes with the DOHC VTECs (i htink 97 was the first year of the 5th gen lude which were all dohc vtecs, if im not mistaken), and the NSXs... and maybe the Civic SIs.. but really, there was not much comparing...
the accord doesnt count since its the same car ahah

and the Type R, and the LS, and the GSR, and the SI; along w/ the RL and the TL. Our cars were never fast nor meant to be. They weren't at all performance oriented until the Type S came out w/ the 2nd gen.

my 4 banger does pretty good for me...ive beaten my share of people in races although i wish honda did have the 4 cylinder CL's come wit the h22 that the preludes have...that woulda been a good alternative to those who wanted real power and a manual car
#23
Well, when I first test drove the car, I didn't have pure performance in mind. It just so happened that it has the 3.0 VTEC and was "nicely" powered. I certainly wasn't thinking of beating IS300's or 325i's or Maxima's. I just wanted a nice car..........
If I had wanted speed....I would of gotten a crotch rocket.

3.0 CL: slow? somewhat. powerful? yes. too heavy to use that power and be fast? definitely
i wish i could lose 400~450 lbs from my car, thats the only secret to the Integra's being fast. my friend got smoked in his 1997 325 4 door (intake, pulleys, and a good 200 lbs of stereo equipement) by an (1992?) Integra LS with a fart pipe and only a fart pipe. if a honda is fast, its light as hell... unlike 325s.

how do you know the car only had a fart pipe? And 325's are fuckin slow too. The tegs in stock form aren't all that light. And our cars are NOT powerfull

almost 200lbs of torque? thats not really a slouch coming from a Honda. of course its a V6, but still.. 325s are pretty slow but theyre not that weak. 200hp in a 2.5 liter inline 6...
oh yea and you asked how i knew about the fart cannon on the teg? i know the guy and we've talked before.. hes got an airbag suspension and a fart pipe with a stock exhaust. he went to pep boys and got the "2 Xtreme 4 U!" universal muffler ahhaha

325 are slow cause of there weight as well ours cl's. tegs are alot lighter then cl's my cl is 3400lb and most base tegs are 2800. that 600lb diff. my delsol is 2500lb with a 1.6l 125hp and even less torque will take my cl by 2 car lenths to 100mph

raced the WRX again tonight
Raced the WRX again tonight... same results 2 more times. He said that the chip was all programmed for all the stuff that he had done. I dont get it either... only thing i can think of is the AWD weighs to much and is no help from a roll...? Dont get me wrong... the faster we got the more it was pullin... but still... WTF?

A-CL Post Whore w/N2O
I've beaten a WRX in the 1/4 mile! :P
To be honest, I never considered speed as a reason to buy my CL. If I was looking for speed, I would have bought another car. I bought it for the luxury and dependability.
With time, I worked on making it faster.

dustbuster you don't count, you ran what? 14 flat at shitty 75/80 From a roll you'd probally walk a stock wrx pretty bad, remember the wrx is a 5 speed with what amounts to two overdrive gears. The acura is more class and comfort, the wrx is very raw and unrefined. If you think the interior of a wrx is ruff around the edges try starting up a boxer engine when it's 10 degrees or lower, piston slap and rough idle/acceleration for the first mile or so.
