Clamps for lowering

My cousin has been fixing up cars for (He had an old MR2 and a corolla he always worked on) and he works for United Airlines and they dont do crap at work. He says everyone sleeps on their desk. So obviously he has some free time. So he makes clamps to lower his car. He said they are good because they keep the geometry of the car and they are easy to install/uninstall. They are made out of titanium bolts and stuff and he said he'll make'em for me when he gest a chance. This sounds good cuz its free and stuff. He has a Sentra SE-R and he did it on all his cars. Have any of u heard of this??

they are not very good for your springs. they are made for trucks to raise or lower the spring height for temporary situations (towing, hauling, etc..) you can buy them at a local auto parts store for about $20.

Yeah, not good.

You take your soft springy stock spring and clamp down a coil so that the overall length is shorter. It's equivalent to taking a stock spring and cutting a coil off the top to make it shorter. Your car will be lower and your stock shocks will have to work harder, eventually blowing and the spring rate will not be correct for that height. So your stock springs will be too soft, therefore making your struts work even harder (blowing sooner, loss of control and performance).

Don't waste your time, unless you plan to replace EVERYTHING. Just get some pro-kits and leave the stock shocks on for a while if you don't have the $$. You'll be in bad shape fast if you use the U-bolts.

Trucks can use them because with rear suspension that is real stiff for heavy loads the back sits higher than the front. When you're not hauling this is annoying.

My little input.

You can do it, but just don't try to drive around afterwards!
