CL experts... I want some opinions... new motor.
It's been a while since I posted it's good to see you guys are still active.
... and no sorry I'm not doing a H22 swap just putting another F23A in my 99CL I sea foamed a while ago and took my chance in the crank I started getting a slow oil leak into my exhaust (not burned just leaked) and the motor doesn't run as well as it used to (lesson learned).
Long story short I'm swapping in a new motor and doing the basics water pump, TB, maybe a new header since I already have cat/and cat back.
The input I want is 1 is there anything else I should consider replacing since the motor will be out and labor will be nothing and also any exhaust header suggestions.
I'm also going to get it de-badged and resprayed + minor fender damage fixed while I'm on a cruise in march so I'll up some pics next year.
Thanks for any input

If you're taking the motor out, at least replace the motor mounts

Depends on what you're going for, you could get a set of polyurethayne mounts or oem

Are you going with an aftermarket TB or boring out the stock one? In either case you'd want to port match the intake plenum.
Buy new OEM or new aftermarket replacement motor mounts. Stiff mounts serve no purpose on a stock daily driver. They make the interior rattle and vibrate at idle.

I was looking over some threads about an exhaust header and I had a little confusion between the F22s and the F23s where it was said they were different and I was looking on ebay and found this item.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=200503797361
the seller states it will fit both 2.2s and 2.3s is that possible?
Also, does anyone have an opinion on SS vs ceramic coated?

SS is better, Ceramic flakes off most times. And the 2.2 and 2.3 exhaust manifolds are different

I should search for an 98-2002 accord header I assume since the 94-97s are the 2.2s? Also no header information appears in the noob guide if anyone feels like updating it since there is the 2.2 2.3 discrepancy.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but the 94-97 EX came with an F22B1 Vtec which is the same engine as the 97 2.2CL so I would assume that engine can use the same header as the F23A1 that came in our 98-99 CL's. As far as I know the 98-02 accord uses way different exhaust routing than the CL.

94-97 accord = 2.2
98-02 accord = 2.3
98-02 accord = 2.3

:/
Yea sick I guess it probably routes different after the header but an F23 is an F23 and the exhaust header should fit the same.

Blazin is correct. Any header that fits the 94-97 Accord EX with an F22B1 will fit either 2.2 or 2.3CL. Most accords came with the F22A (LX, DX models) and the headers for those will NOT fit the CL's. Basically either buy one for the CL or 94-97 Accord EX. I really don't think the header is the same on the 98-02 Accord not because of the motor side but the length to the cat. I could be wrong... but I doubt it

Have you thought about swapping out the cam? Not many F's go that route, but if you could find one for a few hundred dollars, it would be a nice 10-15 hp gain with the i/h/e. Maybe send out your stock throttle body to maxbore.com and then port match the plenum and runners.
I'd like to see someone do this to an F. Also, if you're car's a 5 speed, look into an H22 (m2a4) or H23 (m2s4) transmission. That alone will make it a completely different car. Best $300 you could spend.

^depends on what he uses it for. Wants to get more performance or just as a DD.
and if you are 5 speed, good time to replace the clutch, if it needs to be changed that is

Right, he hasn't made it clear what he's doing with it so I'm giving suggestion. Even a daily driver could use a cam and some mild mods. The 4 cylinder CL is lethargic at best. It can use all the help it can get.

Thanks for all the input guys. I guess oil burning in these motors is normal even new. My buddy did a compression test and it's perfect in all 4 did new plugs and switched to a 10W synthetic to see if the thicker oil will help with the consumption some. All seems fine it's just using about a qt every 1000miles

a quart every 1k miles still seems a little high for the single cams to me, an H22 is notorious for that but thats because the FRM cylinder walls/piston rings. The F2x doesn't have FRM cylinder walls though so idk.

A quart ever 3k miles would be more typical of a high mileage Honda motor. Mine didn't use a drop and I change my oil every 5,500 to 6,500 miles. It had over 200k on it when I pulled it for the swap.

mine stays the same on the dipstick, and it leaks a little from the oil drain plug everytime i shut her off.
i use semi synthetic and oil change every 3000 miles or less, with over 200000 miles on the f22 now
so having to add any amount of oil between changes seems like a lot to me
