Is it possible to get 200whp from the 2.2 without boost? if not, what about to the crank? if not, what IS the potential of an N/A 2.2 with tuned ecu, full exhaust+headers, lightened pullies, intake, etc? or am i going to have to pick up an Hmotor to get any decent power at all..

Anything is possible with the right amount of money. Getting an F22 to 200whp w/o boost before an H22 is not going to happen for the same amount of money to swap in an H22 and do the same.

I honestly don't think the F22 is worth an all motor build. It would be nice to see someone do it though.
It's not that hard to reach 200whp with the H22, however. Get some more aggressive cams, bump the compression, new intake manifold along with the standard bolt ons and engine management like Hondata should get you into that HP range.

the most i've seen on a built NA F22/F23 was 169hp, 170tq. Built motor, Bisimoto cam, and i'd still hand him his ass. Not worth the money if u ask me. Those motors are pretty good on boost though, iron block makes for reliability w/boost even on stock internals with like 12-15 lbs or less.

200? Swap an H. Get bolt-pons. Cams, pulleys, a lil p-n-p and a mean tune. You will def get 200+. Believe me they are fun engines. A lot of fun.

The two motors need to stop being compared. The H is a great motor under its category. The K is great along with the F under their category. One day we are going to bring up the LS1 like anhedonia said......

Yes yes and yes but in the long run you will need to sleeve for more power. Sleeve a F and a H then make a comparison. Boost is all about the air baby. Sorry but a sleeved H is much better candidate for higher hp.

Appreciate the info.. i guess ill lightly mod for now and save up for the swap or a better car lol.. i got a great deal on a 2.2cl so im just seeing what its potential is on its own.. thanks again

haha.. if i lived in cali i would get a bike, but since i live in toronto and im not rich im going to stick with my automobile.. im askin for the potential w/o boost because my engine has 270k kms on it anyway.. a smooth runner with extra hp here an there while i save up is good enuff for me, especially with a car like the cl (not a racer)

well thats just the way it is. You can't go fast in a car without major work. So it's good advice. As for the f22 like it has been said why even try unless your gonna build the crap out of it to get power. Deal with the comments, if not liked just ignore

ignore i shall.. glad im gettin a good response tho, i've been on a forum for my grand am awhile and they arent much help.. a lot of "buy a new car", i know its going to come out, and yes having an R1 would be sweet.. but so would 200hp out of my f22, and everyone is saying this engine is better for boost anyway

200hp at the crank to match an h22a is not that hard for an f22a, but that's not what you have.
200whp? boost.
SupraManAG, what does it matter which chassis the motor is in?

Wow, I remember the days on this forum, when people were so excited to find out that headers or an intake would fit on their engine, now it's always. "Don't buy bolt ons, do a motor swap, h22, k24" makes me miss the old days when people actually wanted to mod their cars

werd, i remember back even further than that. Although, even back then if you had an accord, it was still "h22 swap!".
silly fools, i used to get so much flack for wanting to work with what i had.
