Chrome around windows

my car is coming back from paint hopefully this week and i want to paint those chrome window pieces to go with the "theme" im going with..

so how do you take these things things off without breaking them?

put black out tape (electrical tape)over the strips. my friend did that on his bmw and he my friend did that on his 03 TL and looks clean.

You gotta be real careful taking that shit off, then sand them down and prime and paint them. that will look . Good luck.

i might be wrong, but i think you just take a small screwdriver and pry them off, i am probably wrong though

you could try the black tape thing and if that doesnt work out then you are at the time when you need to decide if its worth it

I'd love to see the peices the same color as the car. I think that would look nice. Black trim always fades, mine is starting to.

dont put electrical tape on there thats ghetto. take it to a tint shop and have them put black vinal on it. it will last alot longer and stay there when it gets hot.

DO NOT use electrical tape, if anything get a roll of construction paper from like home depot, and use 3M Blue painters tape. It sticks, then comes right off.

only guy i know to do that is cocoa, it looks clean that way... removing all trim for me would do some well cause silver/bronze pretty much clash... take pics when you finish soilder

I painted mine. I decided that it was too risky to have them taken off, because I heard that it may not fit right once you do. I left them on the car, sanded em, and spray painted them. You just got to pay attention to detail when you are masking things off, and make sure you cover the whole car to protect from over-spray.
