Choices Choices
Soooo.... Its about that time... The time where in the next 3 months i plan on getting a new car. sad but happy at the same time. I might keep the CL, but I might also use it as trade in, depends on the deal. but, im considering two. And i thought i'd get your guy's opinions on each. honda s2000, or nissan 350z. both convertible. Any opinions?

I personally would go for an S2000, but that's disregarding performance and specs, I just love the way those look. I was thinking of one as my next car if I don't switch to AWD for the awful New England weather and terrain.

yeah im leaning toward the z, but the s2000 is like 10g's cheaper...i drove the z yesterday, and an rx8, the rx8 was disappointing as HELL. but i fell in love with the Z. i just need to test drive a s2000.

Go with the S2k you'll love it, handles like a dream. Just test drive it to see which you like better. Unless you're planning on getting a NISMO 350z then I'd go with a Z.
But I think my opinion is bias since I've worked for a Nissan & Infiniti dealer years before. How about a G35?

i wouldnt get a convertible unless it was hard top. I've seen disastrous break ins to convertible cars. Maybe its just the area im in lol.
As for the Z vs the S2K, my friend was going through the same dilemma a little while back, comparing both cars. They both have their high points, but in the end from what i've seen it depends on your needs. The Z has low end grunt that you can use in everyday driving, where as the S2K you need to rev it high to get the power out of it unless you mod the engine. The interior of the Z is shit compared to the s2k, the interior quality are worlds apart. Being that you can save money on todays gas prices with the 4 cylinder of the s2k, and the handling is awesome and the interior is great, he now has a beige on white s2k that he calls Stacey Lee lol.

Im sorry but i cannot get over how shitty the layout of the Z interior is and how cheap it feels. Me and my friend testdrove 3-4 of em and i had the same vibe in all of em.

if you're gonna get a Z get the 07's that have the VQ35HR in them.
i like both cars, but the s2000 has a weak rear differential that tends to break after some extreme driving. but the 03 Z 6-speeds have transmission problems.

convertibles are just kinda.... gay. at least to me. a kid i know has a 350z and its a convertible, people make fun of him for it all the time.
i think most people think of women driving to the beach in a slug bug or something when they think convertible. either that or the top falling apart.

gotta remember, with the 370 slated, they're going to be giving 350s away. personally I'd wait, if I had the cashola and really had my heart set on a z, as you'd have to sc and bolt to death a 350 to even get near stock 370 #s.
coming up on the best time to buy a cheap 350 if ever there was one though.
that said, reliability, resale, looks, rarity, the s2k is the better car of the two, imo.

the 350 has a cheap ass interior and the s2000 is small as heck. but when it comes to fun the s2k takes the cake. i have friends with both s2k's, 350's and g35's and i would personally go for the g35 coupe just because its the more grown folks whip out the bunch..

Either are great, but personally I hate the way 350z convertables look...the top just doesn't flow imo. I'd go for the S2000, but that's me. Test drive the hell outa them, look at what can be done to each, and pick which one is best for you =)

the 350z drop top is ugly. not that the 350z coupe is that pretty either. my neighbour has one,im not that impressed. Go for the g37 coupe, they're much nicer inside and out.
The S2K is a weekend toy imo, i wouldn't wanna DD one.

now that i think about it..i hate convertibles. dont get one. unless like prev stated, its a hard top. i think the s2k has a hard top out that you can buy, but its expensive as hell.

I'd go with the s2000 (hardtop definitely). It's a really fun car to drive and is a bit more unique than the Z. I see Z's everywhere but I'm lucky to see an s2000 once a week.
I'd also look at one of the new Accord V6 coupes. I test drove one the other day and was pleasantly surprised.

are you shopping for new or used? all of the cars are going to be around 30k for a new one, including the v6 accord.

By the way, I'm actually really surprised that you hated the RX8. It's a butt ugly car but I find it to be a ridiculously fun car to drive (though I'd never own one due to its abhorrent ugliness).
Have you tried a Miata? Before you laugh and mock me and call me a pussy, the Miata is the epitome of what a true sports car should be. (The newer models less so, however). They're styled after the older English style sports cars. It's quick, light, and actually FEELS sporty.

well be careful when shopping for one, my friend got screwed royally on his 350z. he bought it 2 months ago, and now it need a new clutch, pressure plate and new syncros which is gonna cost him around $1700 to get it replaced.
i was going to buy a used s2000, but then i took a look at some new cars ie civic si, and i ended up buying new instead of used just incase.........

and so is a 350Z. The new accord coupes arent exactly popping up everywhere. I havent seen too many. They're extremely nice cars. g35's are a very popular car too. I've seen some sick ass g35's though, id rather have one of those before anything else.

in the wake of fuel prices right now, i would stay away from v6 powered cars. you dont really need 300+ hp from the factory running on premium fuel. now is just not a good time to buy a new car.
