Check Engine light and VTEC DOESNT KICK IN YO!!!

i did a search for "vtec not working" and found a bunch of crap!.... if its a repost please post the link...

well as i was driving my 2.3 on the freeway.... my check engine came on and i thought it was just a stupid O2 sensor for the Cat or something.... so as i proceeded on teh freeway, i floored it, and when the my RPMs reached 4000.... MY CAR SEEMED TO HAVE HIT A REV LIMITER...so it seemed.... i took the car to autozone... the Manager ( fucking noob ) said my alarm was tripping it out!...WTF IS THAT SHIT ABOUT!!! stock alarm buddy... and that shouldnt make my RPMs bogg.

got a scanner and plugged it in....gave me a code (which i forgot. gotta do it again) and said air fuel mixture or something of that nature. the code was erased and my car worked fine for 2 more min... light came back on and same shit...

yesterday i cleaned out the VTEC solenoid.. hoping that works.... IT DID..for 20 mins....half way to work this morning the light came on and my frustration skyrocketed!... anyone know how to fix this problem??

sidenote... i also put a lil more oil in the car thinking that may also be the case... that didnt do much either

thanks fellahs

Check your oil. Your oil is too low.

Well I know that when my car hits that rev limiter at 4k. Its because of the lack of oil...

VTEC engages based on a number of different factors, but one of them is volumetric pressure of oil. If you don't have enough oil then it won't engage. Also, yes sometimes teh filter in the oil pressure sending unit will get clogged so check that too. Also see what the code is. It may be the VTEC solenoid not getting a good signal or sending a good signal.

i hope that its nothing serious.... and that its something i can do at home with ease and also inexpensive... kinda on the broke tip

maybe i should invest on a Autometer oil gauge er something

well i checked my oil level on my break... and its up to where it should be!.. so the oly thing i can think of is the solenoid..... ima try cleaning it one last time to see if that helps, but if not then i guess i might have to change the damn thing.

anyone have any other suggestions?

lol... ya... just thought id share it!....

man... this morning when i was leaving my house, i put my emergency brake down, and i noticed the "BRAKE" light was still on... i was like, WTF NOW?? i kept playing with the e-brake and nothing work... so i assumed that the sensor was just stuck. but as i played with the e-brake a lil more i noticed that the BRAKE light wold dim just a lil bit when the e-brake was down... But when the E-Brake was up.. it was slightly brighter.... so now i thought that maybe one of my taillights went out and caused "Brake" lite to sho...
But...as soon as i got on the fwy.. the light came off.. so i think it was just a stuck sensor....

has that ever happened to u guys?
