Check Engine Light

my check engine light came on my car seems a lot slower. i have a CL 2.3 5-speed and i was wondering what the problem could be? and what i should do?

go to autozone and have them pull the code, its free.

Probably the EGR.

But yeah, autozone it and check the n00b guide for code readings. They should help you at Autozone though.

EGR or o2 sensor i bet. Those o2 sensors can be a pain in the buttocks lol.

^haha I'm pulling codes for both my EGR and o2 sensor right now. Damnit lol. I gotta find out where the EGR is located on our car!

I went to autozone and i pulled up on P0141 bank 1 sensor 2. but would this have anything to do with my car running slower?

oxygen sensor, it'll hurt your mpg pretty bad and you'll notice the car driving a little rough.

definitely change that out asap. with gas as high as it is these days you wont want to take a hit on MPG's. That and when my o2 sensor went bad, my car started to have a black soot problem w/my muffler and thats really annoying. probably from unburned fuel.

^Did you clean it yourself? If so, how long did it take, what tools did you need, etc? If you want, you can just PM me cause I wanna clean mine.

Changed my o2 sensor last night. That thing was a bitch to get off. Breaker bar ftw. But the car already feels like it's running better. I recommend you get it done ASAP.

its never been replaced or cleaned and im at 160k. the shop checked it when i got all the tests done to see if i had a broken head gasket

id say rubbing alcohol personally. evaporates easily and penetrates.
