Changing Distributor Cap and Rotor

Hey guys,
Does anyone know how often our distributor cap and Rotor should be changed?
My car is jumpy, thumping, hiccuping or what ever the proper word is to use discribe the feeling.
I have already changed the oil, used fuel injector cleaner, changed the spark plugs, and air filter trying to solve this problem.
I have had the car for 3 years now and it is not normal.

I went to my mechanic today and he suggested changing the wires, distributor cap, and rotor.

Before I go and spend more money trying to solve this problem, I would like to get your advise. Thanks in advance.

Im at 48k and I just replaced my cap and rotor at 45k, the rotor was totally shot. Not real expensive and easy to do. Not sure it would cause jumpiness or anything though cause my car was running smoothly despite the worn rotor. This was a 2.3 though.

Should be changed @ 105K miles.

Changing the wires, distributor cap, and rotor was a piece of cake.

I called yesterday, and they told me the only recall they had on my car was with the ECU if the engine light came on. Thanks for your though.

Here's the info on the Warranty/Recall: http://public.fotki.com/dustbuster4/emissions_warranty/

I didn't even bother with it. By the time I needed the stuff, I had already dropped in the '99 engine.
