changed my manual tranny fluid this weekend

for those who havent changed the manaul tranny fluid and have alot of miles do it
shifts smoother now
it is kind of a pain to do because it needs to be filled from underneath so you have to use a pump or a funnel like i did jsut put a tube on it and you will waste some oul dong it this way so get 2 quarts of honda MT oil instead of one and put the tube in the fill hole and fill it up and then remove and quickly screw the bolt in

but is worth the 20 minutes of time
also when you drain it dont forget to check the plug for metal shavings as well as the oil with a light

If you're also referring to the tranny, it's important to change auto tranny fluid every 30,000 miles (or less). Heat is the biggest killer of an auto tranny. Short of installing a tranny cooler, changing the tranny fluid is the best thing you can do to prolong it's life.

well the 2.2 only holds 1 quart of oil so i would change it. one quart of oil would get dirty quick
make sure you get hondas oil and not just use motor oil
they say that it has alot of additives in it and if you just take it to a shop you HAVE TO request it or you will get crap put in your tranny

@senile32nd....I have a 98 2.3 CL...Could you post some pictures or direct me to any link that has some good pics showing the drain and filler plug....I am changing my axles soon...I thought I would change the oil...besides ...oil will be flushed when I remove the right axle...I have ordered the OE manual tranny fluid and would get it by the end of this week...

Coming back to my original question...I know that the drain bolt is a square sunk bolt..If that is what it's called...I could not locate the filler bolt...where is it ?? Also as far as pump is considered ...could you please elaborate the procedure a bit..that would be very helpful...Is that pump cheap and easy to find ??

thanks..

pump is a couple dollars from auto parts store. It looks like a pump you would use to put syrup on a snow cone, nothing high tech. When looking at the tranny from the passenger side the drain bolt is just left of the axle.
