CF hood installed

OK the hood is finally installed. It sucked that the hood wasn't pre-drilled. Took a little bit of work to get the drilling done. Once the hood was on it was to light for the shocks to close properly so I had to remove the shocks. After the hood finally closed it looked pretty good except for the front that was a little to high up. I'll post the pics ups ad you guys can see for yourslef.
But with out a doubt the new hood is way lighter than the old one. I could pick the cf hood pratically with one hand but the old hood I needed my friend to pick up.

This last pic shows the hood fully closed and you can see the big gaps that it leaves.

my friend had a gap like that on his si with his cf hood. he glued a black rubber thing around it so it wouldn't look like it was opened. it didn't look bad either. it was just a little black rubber hose thing.

hey man nice hood, i like it on the white cl, we need someone to put it on a 1st gen primrose and then a green one for dust but man i like it

what do you plan on doing about the gap are you going to call the manufactuer and ask them for a price cut since it did not fit properly or are you going to adjust it yourself and make ti fit time for some jimmy rigging

nice hood post more pics if you can, when are you going to put the windshield washers back on or are you going to at all? i think it looks better with them off.

Tomorrow I'll try adjusting the hood a little more so the gap isn't as big. I just ran out of time today and had to come to work. I'm sure with a little work the problem can be fixed. Worst case scenerio I'll put hood pins to help close it better. But I really don't like how hood pins look so if can I'll try to avoid them. Somebody had to be the test dummy and see how what the deal was with hood.

To answer some questions:

97Acura3.0CL no I will not be putting the winshiled washer squirters on the hood. I also like the way the hood look with out the squirters.

Dust I think it is worth if you feel ok with a hood that is not an excat oem fit. The only real complaint that I have is that the dam thing didn't come predrilled. For the $305 I paid for I would atleast expect the hood to come predrilled. Overall I think its worth it to be the only 1st gen I've ever seen to have a CF hood.

Guys thanks for the compliments. I'll post more pics once I fix the gap problem.

Those stops holding up the hood are adjustable.

People here are too quick to judge. Looks great. It'll look even better adjusted.

Adjusted it'll look great. Hey, looks good to me now!
Remember that the stock hood even has a rubber stripping around it too. Maybe you can install that on the CF hood.
Watch for flex at highway speeds though. Our front end design scoops a lot of air under it. The hoodpins eliminate that danger too.
Look around for the hoodpins that are small round locks, like the round locks on motorcycles etc. I saw some on a hood and it looks great. Very much a subtle alternative, safer too.

You should get hoodpins even though u don't want too. That hood is going to FLY up on the highway without them, unless you drive like a old man.

i dunno... my friend steve took it off the car and hasnt sent it back.

we didnt like the way the grille fit in there.. it was not as even as yours by far. that and the hood closing issues are a little bothersome. hopefully you can adjust the mechanism to make up for the extra .25 inch of u-bolt.

very interesting. I was always a big fan of CF hoods on white cars. It actually looks better then i thought. A little getting used to but hey, who has a cl with CF.

Did you drill yourself or did eba do it? Did you measure out the stock holes? etc?

work on it bro. that would be the only thing killing me.

if eba finishes my whip this week i want to see it in person. I have noticed that first gens just don;t look as good in photos as they do in person.

I did it today with the help of one of my friends. I might take it by eba's shop tomorrow to see if he can help me adjust the hood a bit. Whenever you come to pick up your car let me know and I'll go over to the shop and meet you there. Theres not too many white h22 cl's around and I'll definately want to see your car run good. Talk to you laters

can you give us some feedback on how it handles around 80-90+mph without bolts?

i've been looking to do this for a few months and i think this would look great on mine (it's black so any gapping wouldn't matter)

Looks good, I'm sure you will adjust it out okay. The only thing that I dislike is that no more gas strut actuators, and it will look better after you paint it the color of the car.
