Catalytic Converter Question

Hey What's up all,

Has anyone had to replace their Catalytic Converter? If so, how much did it cost?

Here's the deal,

A couple days ago I noticed my check engine light turn on, and my engine making an odd sound when I rev it. I was buggin out about it so I took my ride to the shop to have it looked at. It turns out that a piece from my cat converter busted and I need to have it replaced. Muffler Tech in Sacto, CA told me that just the Cat Converter from acura's parts dept is $700 bucks! After looking around online, I noticed that the average price online is $150 bucks. Big difference. If anyone knows how much this part usually runs for can ya let me know? I'm gonna check with the Acura parts dept in the morning but wanted to check with all my fellow cl owners first. Thanks.

It's internal man. The piece is moving around inside. That's where the sound is coming from. That's just the price for the part. They wanna charge me $85.00 for the labor.

i told you about throwing skittles into your tailpipe....now see what happens!....

j/k....check ebay...and im pretty sure this is an easy d.i.y..just a couple bolts..if not..then a muffler shop could do it for way under $700

Yeah the job looks real simple. I'll check with acura on the part tomorrow morning. But I'll be damned if I pay $700 for it. Thanks for the advice.

It's covered under warranty but last time I went to the acura dealer they were acting like dicks. I know they are going to try and find any excuse so they dont have to replace it the CL has air suspension, cat back exhaust, and a CAI. Plus they charge like 100-125 bucks to check it, and they are prob still going to charge to install it, when can just do it myself.
