Do you want a direct bolton cat or something u might have to have meineke weld some flanges on? I have a vibrant high flow cat on my CL that was pretty cheap and is effective, but had to have the flanges welded on. I think there's another member on here that had a Random Technology Cat and another with a Bosal Cat that were direct bolt ons but were more expensive than mine.

I remember back when DaInfammus1 was recommending the Catco cat, but seeing your location. Ill tell you this. There are alot of muffler shops that won't touch that part of the car only because supposedly only the dealer can replace it and they don't want the liability. Are you throwing a code like P0420?

I got a Bosal Cat from the amazon website. It was a high flow cat, but you will have problems when you get a smog test. I would suggest getting the CA compliant high flow cat to save you troubles for the test.

If you plan doing anything to your exhaust and want a highflow cat, contact SMS products. They sell CarSound cat's with various diameters and with custom lengths and flanges.

They don't do emissions or smog testing up here so not really concerned if it's compliant... just wondering if anyone has had issues with a Bosal cat.

from my expericence with my 99 2.3, these cars dont like aftermarket converters. you might need to look into a o2 sensor spacer to prevent the code from being thrown(P0420)good luck

exactly what i was going to suggest. I've ran a high flow ( punched out OEM ) cat converter with an O2 spacer for over a year. No CEL and no problems with emissions testing. You can either buy one

www.amsperformance.com

or make on like i did out of (2) spark plug non-fowlers found in your local auto parts store in the HELP section. Good luck

yes referring to OP only since he lives in CA

no problem with high flow cats, if there is a bung for the o2 sensor you are okay. i wouldn't recommend punching out a cat, since it will fowl out your sensor. it happen to mine when the filling broke up and carbon came though.

Its also helpful to try to find out what caused your first cat to fail, because if its a recurring problem, your new one will fail soon too
