Carbon build up.

Ok I have carbon build up in my hoses and midas is charging me $179 just to clean it out. I am low on cash.... Is there anyway I can clean it myself??? No acura dealer close by. Also I just bought and installed a egr valve because the test said it was my egr valve..... What was causing the check engine light was carbon build up in hoses not EGR valve. I wasted 140 on a egr valve for nothing ! One more question I have been driving my car for two months with carbon build up in the hoses, is it ok??? or will my engine get messed up????

You bought an EGR? There was a recall on it, the dealer would of replaced it for free

Maybe you can get acura to remburse you!

carbon buildup?? man your not pushing the RPM's! -- i believe i read that you are suppose to get into high RPM's everyonce in a while at least to get rid of carbon buildup--
but i don't know if that works with a lot of already built up carbon???

The diagnostic test said egr valve. I push the car sometime and I rev it couple of times but still there. I don't know exactly what hoses, probably the vacuum hose.
