If i dont have an extended warrenty, can i still buy one or do i only have the option after the orginal warranty expires...i bought mine at a dealer and they never told me about the extended wattanty...can i still get one? and how much $??
ya you can still purchase extended warrenty- i bought it around 48000 miles- right b4 my standard warrenty was about to expire... also the closer you get to your warrenty running out the more $$ the extended is going to be...
also i don't think you can buy extended warrenty after your orig. expires...
i paid it think $1800 (around there) for my extended warrenty...
but call up the nearest dealer and check it out- b/c it seems like ever1 has probs with the trans..

Man I feel Your Pain
I was in your exact same shoes last December. My 98 3.0 CL decided at 65,000 miles it really didn't want its original auto transmission either, or drivers seat motor, or even trunk release mechanism for that matter. Futhermore, I would say your estimate is pretty close for all that stuff to get fixed. The Tranny alone was $4500, Power seat base $800, and new trunk release $160. I've never been so pissed in my life, I traided in my last car, the last american car I will ever own, because I couldn't, rather refused to, afford the matainance anymore with 70,000 miles on it (very long story) However, if ther is anyone else in our shoes and there car is beyond the warrenty, consider asking (begging and pleading) the dealership to inact a "good will warranty" since your such a good customer and they made so much off of you. It worked for me, I only paid for the labor $800, I still hate the dealer I just don't say it as LOUD anymore. :sqntfawk:
