Car Jacked!

So I walk down to my car this morning and open up my car, only to find that my head unit is missing and all my CDs jacked. I walk around to the passenger side door and find my window just chillin underneath my car. I said to myself, "at least the fuckers were nice enough not to get glass on the inside of the car." but then i realized that the film for the window tinting saved me from glass.

anyways, i called the cops and they basically told me they couldn't do anything, and told me to go to the insurance company. they didn't even fill out a report. i lost over $1400 worth of CDs and a head unit (Sony Mobile ES CDX M770....that was a pretty penny...)

but insurance is basically paying for everything, i just have to submit proof of ownership and a list of all the CDs i owned. anyways, i just wanted to vent...that H22a might have to wait another week now.....ARGH!!!!

just spend some time to download all the songs you listen to and burn them. get a mp3 playa and burn the songs into mp3. this will save you lots of room from the songs you don't listen to.

Dude the same thing happened to me about a month and a half ago...during school some mexicans broke my window..it was completely shattered all in my car...they stole my head unit...and they even had the nerve to take the fucking remote ...i'm still pissed off about this...i also had a sony and so did some other kid that was parked next to me..his got jacked too...i think they target sony's cuz they just pop right out...no security code needed..its that simple..o and to make it even better my dad told me that I would have to pay for the new cd player...just because he didn't want to report it to insurance...

Don't you have to provide receipts for everything? If not how would the insurance company know how much everything is worth? Don't really know how it works but i guess some kind of info would be needed.

Thanks for all the support guys....and yes, the assholes even took BOTH of my remotes...what i'm planning on doing is taking the money for the head unit, purchase a really nice MP3 player (looking at the Pioneer 8400) on Ebay (about $300), burn all the songs i ever wanted (already on my laptop) and use the rest for the engine...about the subs and all....no they didn't steal them. I currently only have 1 10".....but i sure do have a receipt for 3 12" Rockford Fosgate HE2 subs that retailed for $200 each....and also a receipt for a rockford 800a2 that i bought for $600.....i've still got pictures of the setup....should I? thats an extra $1200 towards the engine.....hmm.....still thinkin...i know you guy wont rat me out or anything....i'll post the pictures of the damage soon, just too sleepy tonight...stressful day....damn mexicans...

I'm going to try not to be a prick, but it's not a great idea to tell them you had stolen things that weren't. First of all, yes insurance companies and the whole concept of insurance is shady. But when people make claims that don't exist, or exaggerate claims, that increases insurance rates for everyone. 2nd, you're really just stealing from the insurance company by claiming something not stolen. Its no better than what was done to you. I'm sure you miss your stuff, I used to live in Miami and you can ask dcsquirm and all the rest how tough it is not to get jacked there (3 times for me my last 2 years of high school in an old civic), and I just tried to be more careful. I know you want that h22, so its your decision...just thought i'd throw in my 2 cents

did your insurance co tell you they would reimburse u for the cds?
my mom is an insurance agent and from what shes told me it has to be installed or bolted down for them to reimburse u. so unless they told u that dont get your hopes up for that extra $1400.

How the F do they steal a radio so fast? Took me a while to take the stock deck out of my car (of course I did it neatly, and took my time).

Just boggles my mind how they do it.

I got a fix. Superglue razor blades to the outside of your Head unit (around the back and sides). That ought to fix em. My friend did that to the stereo in his jeep and a dude left some serious trails of blood behind. The best part was that the stereo didn't even work when he stole it. SUCKER!!!!!!

sometimes your insurance will cover it. If not, home/renters insurance definitely covers your cds in your car...I've had mine jacked before

Ahhhhh, the voice of reason.

You must be either a parent or a social worker.

Dude, dowhatchalike and file howyalike and get yaenginelike quickly!

We pay high insurance rates for accidents, thefts and other mishaps, so a few dollars here won't begin to make up for the mental anguish each violated person suffers just from the initial glance at their vehicle. I don't mind, just do whatever it takes to get fully reimbursed for your items. Hell, thats what its for, to reimburse you in case something happens, its a gamble and the company just lost this round.

I don't condone theft.
Having said that... Take a look at your insurance rates and bills for the last 3 years... And then deduct what you are getting reimbursed for (the key is that you have to show them proof of all the cd's... who keeps CD receipts anyhow?) then you'll see how much the insurance company has made off of you.
Like he said, they gamble that you won't get jacked and they lost, even though they lost only a small portion of what they've actually taken from you.

Well, I ended up not telling them about the subs, and i'm just having them replace the head unit and the CDs....I was told be a couple friends that they give you money for the CDs, but this is not the case with USAA...they're actually sending me out all the CDs that I had on the list that were stolen. As for the head unit, i ended up getting the pioneer DEH84000MP...which is the MP3 player. that should arrive tuesday or wednesday. for the damage that the fuckers did to my car, they gave me $240. they also replaced my window and the tinting for a $100 deductable...and i do realize now that my insurance rates are going to go up...that's the reason why i didn't tell them about the subs and the amp (that have already been sold). so dotn worry about that shizat.

man, if anybody here has insurance that covers CD's even with receipts, tell me where you get it from! I had about 1000 in cd's stolen on TWO seperate occasions and all the insurance company said is "we'll send someone out to replace the window" Man that made me mad! I pay them lost of money every month to protect from theft and they don't even do it!

hahaha...thanks for the input....if you look at the date that was over a month ago....since then they've completely replaced the CDs, replaced the window, replaced the tint, and replaced the CD player (upgraded to an MP3 player too!)....i use USAA since my parents were both in the military, and because im' still in school i'm still able to be under their kick ass insurance. if you're able to get into USAA i recommend it...they've got almost the best rates around anywhere!
