OK, I've read all the other post saying that the humming noise from the cai is normal and someone said that when you use a short ram the noise is also there. BUT when I had a short ram I never took out that box from right by front bumper and there was no noise. So what I'm thinking is that that box some how stops vibration or something. Maybe one of the bolt fromthat box is keeping something silent. I don't know, any thoughts?

i dont have any problems of that sort with my CAI. If you hear a vibrating noise, check to see if its rubbing against metal or something. are you using the rubber vibration dampners that came with it??

 

the black box thingy is the air silencer.

 

someonme was saying that the humming noise is just the air coming in OK. but there should have been that same noise when the short ram was in but there wasn't. So that that box is the air silencer, how is that box silenceing the air for a short ram?

 

It's not. The silencer has nothing to do with the humming noise or lack thereof with a CAI/Short Ram except for the fact that putting on a CAI or Short Ram and bypassing the silencer makes the induction sound much louder
