my transmission is shot. i went to my trans guy cuz my trans wasnt shifting right and the whole front end would shake and chirp from 1st to 2nd. i also drained my fluid a couple days ago and it was straight black and metal shavings were on the magnetic bolt. i put in new honda atf with a bottle of lucas oil for the trans...and it helped a lil bit...but my trans was too far gone. he says the clutches are grinded down and the filter is clogged with shavings which is restricting trans fluid flow. hes gonna rebuild it and the parts is gonna cost $2250 and hes gonna give me a discount on labor but we dont know how much yet. son of a bitch.

Damn, too many power stalls... LOL. Welcome to the second transmission club. There are lot of members... LOL. $2250... kinda high. I had mine replaced for around $2000. But you are rebuilding... shouldn't be that much for the parts. Hell, a brand new crated transmission from Acura would run you $3000. Anyway, good luck, and sorry to hear about another transmission crapping out. Oh, my fluid looked the same as you described. Graphite, like pencil lead.

 

Where do you guys fork out the cash from to get another tranny?...credit cards?
I know $2k will be HUGE BLOW to my life. If that happened to me...words couldn't
express how bad I would feel, let alone start a thread about it.

Ill give you my auto H22 tranny for $400. Great working condition. Converted to 5speed. Range of miles on tranny around 65,000. I have auto JDM h22 tranny, auto f22 tranny with blown engine and 5 speed USDM h22 with LSD. They are all for sale. Anyone need one?

2200 will get you an h22 with tranny. dont waste your money on rebuilding a stock tranny! y

 

Does the 2.3 come with separate engine and tranny controls? If it does then the H22 swap shouldn't be a prob at all. All you have to do is buy the obd2 to obd1 harness conversion and plug in the P13. H22 + auto tranny runs you much less then $2,200.00 on e-bay. If you want just the auto H22 tranny for $400 then let me know.

whats this about a h22 5spd w/LSD?

 

I have it but it fits only JDM H22 S or Si and 97 Prelude SH. The ATTS (LSD) unit which links to the tranny. Unfortunately I got stuck with it because it didnt have enough clearance with the oil filter. I ended up strapping the 5speed w/o LSD. Now I'm stuck with the tranny. I'm trying to sell it.

That is around when mine craped out... I had only owned it for a month and then it owned me... $2000 on credit... Just got that shit paiid off... whoa... still owe a bit on the car loan too. Credit sucks, but at least mine is good.
