car looks nice! I wouldn't get one though, that rotary is a bitch unless you reinforce your apex seals and whatnot. Also, i'd smoke u in a race lol. Sexy car nonetheless though, and they handle like a dream too.

Who here can tell me who the first automotive company was to invent the rotary engine without looking it up?

(hint: it wasn't Mazda, and they stopped production of it after the 1st year)

Sexy car. I like FDs myself. FD + LS1 = sexytime. I was talking to an FD owner that told me he blew 3 rotary engines before he finally swapped into an LS1 lol.

We got a winner! Benz I believe was the first car manufacturer to make a production car with a rotary engine even though the idea had been around for years already. They stopped doing so shortly after.

Hey all. haven't been on in ages. and thought i'd say hey. and the car is great idk why ppl seem to hate rotaries. the balance of the thing is what makes me love it. taking corners at 80 really gets the blood flowing. and much faster than my old 3.0. so how's everyone doing? anyone get around to getting a successful turbo on the 3.0 yet?

6sp or auto-tragic?

they're really hot in other colours. mazda silver is too protege like. red and blue espcially.

too little power, you're right...my 14 year old prelude pulls on them. but the handling is amazing.

as for the prelude you might have been racing a automatic, they have significantly less power, cuz ive raced prelude's, and never even come close to losing.

eh, mpg was about the same as my 3.0. if im on a road trip and set the cruise i can get 25-27 mpg. so no complaints really. im surprised how satisfied i am with the car.

yeah, automatics are about prelude territory, the 6-speed is a different world. iirc its a 50hp difference between 6 speed and automatic?

since you have an extra 50hp, be careful you dont break the 19mph speed limit at southpoint mall (im guessing you know southpoint, considering your location says durham, nc)

different world?

the difference between the auto and the 6sp is 20 hp.

the weight difference between a 4th gen VTEC and an RX-8 is over 100 lb.
definitely beatable. I've done it.

192 vs 240, that's 48 horses. i mean i'd race you. but im just saying. i have yet to loose to a prelude. my friend has a civic with a h22 in it and he can't keep up with me, especially after 110.

nice pick up, i was looking at an 89 turbo 7 before i bought my CL. but as others have said. be prepared to replace the apex seals. and as for the warranty question debate..

If you use the MazdaSpeed turbo kit and buy it from Mazda themselves chances are it wont void the warranty. i know alot of companies do something of this nature, like toyota with TRD and BMW with Dinan

there is no mazdaspeed turbo kit for the 8. and i dont mind the warranty going out. i can get the engine ported and rebuilt for about 1k. as opposed to others who would be paying around 4-5 k. so it doesnt bother me.

more like 232 vs 190 at the crank. either way, benchracing FTL. and so is your friend's supposed h22 civic.

lol calm down man. and if you really dont believe my friend has one i'll take a pic of it. but i still think it's a rice pos. i never said my 8 was god or that i could beat everything. but ppl also think its alot slower than it really is.

Good pick up. Sorry fellas, I don't mean to bust balls...I have to lock this up. This thread is more about the RX-8 than the CL. To the OP, re-make a new thread in Car Talk about your car.
