this buzzing sound comes on once in a while and i think it's from the ABS motor. is this normal? i'll hear it when i start the car and sometimes when the car's moving. is this normal? the ABS light is not on though

edit: i think it's the motor. it's the cylindrical thing next to the reservoir

 

is your AC on or off while this is happpening?

 

mine does it too, with AC off. dunno if it does it with AC on. about a 2 second buzz, similar to a cell phone on vibrate, but louder, and only right after i start the car. it has buzzed for a while now, i just assume its some pump somewhere. btw, i have a 97 2.2 5-speed.

 

i always thought that it was the vents ajdusting themselves.

 

ABS Modulator...mine does it all the time...

 

it comes on rather the AC is on or not. it's not the vents. def the ABS Modulator. does it mean that it's going to break or something?

 

Nah I dont think so...This has been discussed before if you search. Mine has been doing it the past year soo i guess you should be fine.

i get those sounds all the time and it doesn't go away...and i don't seem to have any problems with the car luckily...

 

Except for the VSA (first gens don't have it), that is correct. :P

Happens when you turn the car on, and when the car gets to a preset MPH.

 

VSA is that a traction control. do we have any kind of traction control on the first gens?

 

Only second gens and 99+ TLs

 

Mine has been buzzing intermitently for the last 2 years. No issues yet, although my ABS light will come on if I've been driving for a few hours.
