Breaking the Wheel Lock

Alright, I got my 97 3.0 from eBay. Everything in the car was better than I expected since it had 130K miles on it. But it failed inspection because of the thread wear on my tires. Then I noticed that the rims have Wheel Lock on them and I got no key. My only option is to break the Lock but I'm not sure how? Is going crazy with a saw disk my only option?

no its not.....you cutting the wheel lock will lead you to fuck up the bolt its bolted too...and thats about a 150$ mistake right there......i'd go around to a bunch of car shops....local rice stores, goodyears....explain the situation and see if anyone has a matching key...... your solution would be a last option situation......i'd do my best to get em off without cutting them off...........

if they're the stock wheels, try an acura dealership. my brother bought the honda wheel locks for his prelude from the dealer. it's a mass produced kit, so the unlocking socket should be the same.

I wonder if any of those shops are going to think that you just stole the car and are looking for a way to get the rims off. I dont know why you would be driving around a stolen car, but some people are dumb enough.

My only suggestion is to email the person that you bought the car from and ask him about the wheel locks and see if you can find out where he bought them. If they are pretty generic ones than you might be able to go and buy another set with the same key.

Good Luck

We had our car stolen about 18 months back. They put donuts on the car, put the wheel locks on, and kept the key. The body shop was able to get the locks off without breaking the lugs. They notched the wheel lock to get a grip on it, and somehow got it off from there. You could try doing a full notch across the face of the wheel lock, then use a screwdriver....

Best of luck.

Just go to a tire shop and tell them you want the locks off, They'll do it $5 each. I broke the key for my locks the other day while I was changing my brakes and rotating my tires, I took it the shop and they took the locks off with a blank socket that they hammer over the lock and they just screwed them off, no questions asked. Where in queens are you, If you want I can tell you where I went.

Thats Happened To A Bunch Of My Friends In Which Theyll Lose The Key Or Whatever - I Suggest If The Rims Are Stock Go To The Acura Dealer Or If Not Go To Car Shops And Let Them Know Your Situation There Not Going To Think The Car Was Stolen If Anything Just Tell Them You Lost The Key And You Need A New One - My Friends Never Had A Problem - Just That Remember You Have To Obviously Pay For A New Key - Im Not Sure How Much It Is - If Not Check With The Manufacturer Of The Rims - If Not Call Up The Person You Bought The Car From And See Whats Up

I went with him. This is what they did. Pretty painful sight. They put a socket in. Beat the shit out of it with a really big hammer. Then try to twist it off. They hit it so hard a couple of times, at the second to last wheel, they split the socket. I was like WTF. but it all good now, they all off and everything seems to be good.
