'BRAKE' light on dash

Anyone else's BRAKE light on dash light up even when the e-brake is not engaged? This also happened this morning (while I was having issues with the wipers ) .

Is it a simple adjustment of the cable? TIA

There are electronic sensors in the brakes, when it gets time to replace them the sensor kicks and throws on that light.

Sounds like it's tiem for new brakes for ya

actually the fluid being low enough to thro the light means the brakes are low, cause the lower your brakes the more fluid it takes to push in the piston in the caliper to get the brakes to engage, hense makin your resuvoir lower. unless of course u have a leak. or u have that common tepremental resovoir sensor, that throws the light if the fluid is just below the max line.

goddamn i sound like a nerd. sorry.

In cold weather, my brake light used to stay on even after disengaging the e-brake. Once things warmed up a bit, the light would go out on its own. I took it to Acura, and they said they had to lube the switch that activated the light with the e-brake engaged. It hasn't been a problem since.

okay i've had this same problem for MONTHS now... brake light on dash comes on EVERY time it's a little chilly out, usually first thing in the morning. it usually stays on for about 15 minutes then goes out. sometimes it will come back on, but not usually.

i don't even use my e-brake... could it still be that problem with the switch?

i took it to the dealer about a month ago and they said there was "nothing they could do" since the light wasn't actually ON at the time i took it in. they checked the obvious other stuff that would normally activate the light & said that all checked out okay.

it's sooo annoying, cuz obviously i can't duplicate the problem when it's actually AT the dealer, since it only happens first thing in the morning when i start it in cold weather!!

grrrrrrrrr...

The brake indicator was coming on on my wife's Accord in cold weather. they the dealer adjusted the ebrake, and topped of the res, and it quit coming on. I am not sure, but it sounds like you may have the same issue. I wish I knew which thing they did fixed it, but it doesn't come on now and things are good again. Good luck.

i posted the fix on this about a month ago. There is a service bulletin for both honda and acura stating that the reservoir filter does not allow the float to properly float in the reservoir, hence your brake like will come on during a cold start. All you need to do is take it to a Honda or Acura dealership, purchase the updated filter and float, and replace them. That should take care of your problem.

when i first took my car in there, the service advisor guy said this was probably the problem (i couldn't remember what he had said exactly, but this sounds like it)... but then after looking at it they said they couldn't determine the cause... what's up with that???

i guess i'll call them back today & ask again... *sigh*

I had the same problem, with my brake light coming on. I was blowing brake light bulbs like twice a week. Turned out there was some water in my bulb socket (no idea how) Cleaned that out, fixed the problem.

grrr... this is sooo freakin annoying.

i called the acura dealer again today about this problem & asked why they didn't just fix it the first time. and again, the guy says "well we can't diagnose it or order parts for it unless the light is on when you bring it in." and so AGAIN i explain that the light only comes on when it's really cold... and usually goes off after 15 minutes or so. i live about 30 minutes away from the dealer... hmmm let's think about this!! unless i left it there overnight, there is NO way i can get the light to stay on long enough to get it over there!

finally he says they can check it out again even if the light is off. ugh. why is this sooo difficult?? *sigh* so i'm takin it in on thursday...
