ok, so yesterday i was just doing my thing, and next thing i know i turn my car on and the stereo doesn't come on. there are no error codes or anything. i even tried putting in the code but nothing happens. the anti-theft light is blinking... not sure if that means anything.

i checked the fuses, and even changed one of them with a spare, disconnected the battery, and it's STILL dead.

so then i go to the acura dealer, the guy tells me he can take it out, check the wires with a volt meter to see if it's an electrical problem and then go from there, but that cost about $80. I don't want to pay 80 bucks for bad news. he also said to get a new unit would cost about 400-500. and i just spent 600 on tires yesterday.. where does it end?

so.. is there anything i could do on my own to figure out what's wrong with it? and if i have to get a new one, what would be a good replacement? i'm just really picky about how it looks, i don't want one of those tiny little CD players that is all neon and shit and then you have to get one of those ugly back plates to fill in the space.. no way am i doing that.
