Boredom = Less Gold/New Engine Update
I was bored today. So I did some minor work on the car (lubed the window tracks--my driver's window was slow as hell; put new clips on my bumper so the damn clear lenses wouldn't pop out, and vacuumed the interior--looked like rain, so I didn't wash the outside).
While doing this mundane work, I took off the front gold license frame and debadged my gold "3.0CL".

In other news: My new engine gets dropped in on 8/18/03. At that same time, I'm getting my new rotors/pads, front axles, and hubs installed.
Next comes the tranny!
THAT IS ALL!

Thanks!
I can't stand all of the silver on my car! By the time I added the OEM foglights and the clear bumper lenses, it looked like a spaceship. So I replaced the grill and rear badges with gold. Gold (or almost any other color) looks so much better, IMHO.
However, the gold was overkill, and it's nice to have a little less "bling-bling on the CL. Thinking about black Chrome for the future.
BTW: I've held off getting my WW Air Dam, Side Skirts, and Rear Lip painted and installed until the engine work is complete. The car should be complete by the end of August!
I can't wait!

yeah, let me know if you ever find black gold/ =gunmetal emblems! They look soo good. I've seen them on is300's and a sequoya and they look good.
the gold isn't my taste, but everyone likes different shit. I like it better now that you took off some gold tho.
BTW- hows that kit coming?

The rear rotors (I don't know the brand) are cross-drilled and slotted.
Changing the front rotors is a bitch, so I figured since I'm getting new hubs and axles, this would be a great time to change the rotors to cross-drilled/slotted and zinc plated for the front and rear.
As for the remainder of the gold, I may remove it all once the Wings West "body kit" is installed. It may not look good.
We'll see.

Looks good Dust.
Still hope to meet up with you again. I've been working little bits on my car too. Nothing like a new engine or 100 shot but... !!
Still planning on keeping the CL when you get the M3?
So why a new engine? Good luck with the new axels and hubs, sounds like a major undertaking.

Damn Rick!
Who's doing the new engine?
I am going to finish moving in to the place and furnishing the new room, then getting the truck in September. I am going to fix my Konig Rims this weekend and have 2 sets of 18's and dump the stock rims.
Let me know if you need to get around while the engine is being installed, I'll help out as much as I can.

Dennis,
A friend of Rich's is going to drop it in up in PA. Rich just had his motor replaced by the same dude. I don't know if you heard that he blew up the engine in his Jetta, using my old Zex kit. He forgot to swap out his plugs for the Zex plugs and BOOM! Blew the fucker up on the very first run on his car. Wound out first gear, shifted into second and BOOM !!!! Burned a whole in a piston!
I may need a ride up to PA (well, a ride back from PA) when I drop the car off. If you're free (and willing), I'd appreciate it. I'll call 'ya. Do you need anything from/done at Rich's shop?
Seth,
Good to hear from 'ya. I just went over 105K miles, and instead of just getting a timing belt/water pump change, I thought I'd drop in a new (used) engine. Only 29K on the engine. I also thought it would be a good time to change out the CV joints, hubs, and rotors at the same (save on labor $$$). Once I get a new (used) tranny put in her this fall, I should have a drive train that should be good for another couple of years and should withstand my continued spraying (100-shot)!

Rick and Dennis!!! What's up guys?? I just got back from Fort Lewis, Washington. 32 days of straight fun. Right.
Anyways, hope to catch up with you guys sometime soon. I need to get some new plugs and also refill my bottle....i was running with platinums for the first bottle, but after i heard about your uncle's jetta, i'm gonna wait for the plugs to come in and then refill the bottle. Hopefully i can catch some track times with you guys.
