Big H22 Question...

Ok well I just got some great news...my friend and I are working on his house and his parents are going to pay us $1250 each...so I figured that i'm about half way for the H22...and tomorrow (thursday) I find out if I get a job or not at some tennis shop...so should I save up for the H22 because I am willing to do it...how much would I need to save up to purchase the H22..tranny..ecu and all the other stuff to make it a manual?...thanks to everyone who responds..

Also is there anyway I could keep it an auto..or would that just ruin the whole point of getting the swap...

Figure around $2,000-$2,500 for an h22 with tranny and ecu. Yes you can buy an automatic h22a and you would not have to change anything and would be cheaper for you. If you can't install it plan on paying $500+ for the install. Hope that helps.

You loose 10% or more horse power with an automatic. I have seen that at the dyno. If you are going to do it do it right and go manual. If staying with an auto, see if they make a higher stall torque converter, they help for launching off the line but around town they tend to suck a little, not to bad though. I had a high stall in my vette around 3200rpm's. My car would barely move until I hit that rpm then it launched.

If money is not an object get a manual.
Keep in mind that with a manual tranny driver skills plays a huge roll in a race. A shitty driver in an automatic will beat a shitty driver in a manual.

Drag gen 3 turbo kits are around $2,700 but I wouldn't put a turbo on my h22a without doing some engine work first.
