Better sound from the stereo

I have the stock premium Bose stereo in my car and what can I say, it sounds pretty pathetic. I am not looking for thumping bass but will I get better sound if I replaced just my speakers with aftermarket ones? I thought Bose was supposed to be a high end system. Any thoughts?

ok... the rule of thumb in stereo is you pay for what you get... dont settle for cheap price no matter what your told... the higher the price the better the product... There is no real mark up value in stereo... if you want clean sound... get some POLK audio Speakers... or MBQUART... I have JL AUDIO... Its all about what you like... but if you want loud and clear... your gonna want to get a 4 channel amp... a good one not a CHEAP ONE... JL IS ONE of THE BEST... After you find a set of speakers and and amp that you like you should look on ebay for them... i got mine for cheap but there brand new... in box... if you have and questions... let me know hope this helps..

You can replace the speakers and it will be louder if the sensitivity is higher. A speaker with a sensitivity level 3 db higher than another speaker will require half as many watts to power it.

definently, JL makes some of the best speakers...i have JL's for my subs, and my interior speakers are boston acoustics and they sound great, but im' also thinking of upgrading to mb quartz...i would stick with those, dont go for the cheap stuff...

Bose has been riding on their rep for a L-O-N-G time... once a decent brand but now mass produced and used in cars for the brand recognition factor. Get a good after market stereo and junk the Bose - or sell it to somebody who doesn't really care what their system sounds like.
