battery light on

Well i did some searching and found nada. This morning after work was over i started my car and the battery light was on. It was not on the afternoon driving to work, I did notice my system was not as loud though. It goes off if i rev the motor over 4200 or so. I guess Ill have to take it to auto zone and have em hook it up and see what is the prob. But I just thought I'd throw it out and ask you guys. Hope It's just the batt and not the alt as I dont have the funds for that right now.

drive it straight there if u can make it....once the alt. dies ur gonna be driving off the power of the battery and keep ur stereo and any other electronics turned off if possible cuz anything that can drain off the battery will result in a faster drain -- as soon as that happens ur car will sputter and die out and that can be a dangerous thing on ur roadways....

if u make the drive over to the parts store, be prepared to swap out the alt. on the spot cuz u won't be able to drive the car back home/garage cuz the battery will probably be toast by then

maybe make sure u have AAA or other tow company

just make sure your alternator doesnt seize.. if it does, your belt could snap causing some serious issues. ask me how i know. :2cent:

Did you ever put a CAP on? I would carry arround an extra charged battery in your trunk (if it fits) just in case.

its not all that bad if you can get the car up in the air, otherwise i think the hardest part is getting at the bolts that hold it in place

Ok guys just got back from advance auto. The batt is good. And the alt is sending 0 voltage. I'm gonna check my wiring but I imagine my amp has killed her. Ahhh I was wanting to put a high output alt on but guess thats not gonna happen.

Im lookin on ebay right now. I remember a few weeks ago i found 180 amp ones for 150 but cant find em now. Dang it. I figure it would be better to spend the same amount of $$$ and wait a week or so and get a ho one from online than get a stock style. Ninja edit I found a 160 amp for 120 shipped and it's new. Watcha guys think? I was hoping for bigger but im sure that would push way more current to my car http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-HONDA-ACCORD-Acura-CL-ALTERNATOR-98-2002-160AMP-V6_W0QQitemZ360144448749QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_ Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item360144448749& _trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=65%3A1|39%3A1|240% 3A1318

well since you already purchased a new alternator, make sure you check the main cable on the front of the alternator to goes back to the battery is not broke or damaged. thats what happen to mine, and caused my battery to loose power since it was not getting a full charge back from the alt.
