Ball joint failure

So i had just gotten back from a 5 week vacation in italy and i get in my car to go for a little spin
I decide to get on the freeway to open her up a little so as im accelerating at full throttle while merging the ball left front ball joint decides to fail. I was going about 80 mph when this occured so the wheel decided to snap all the way to the left and back so it was sitting at a 90 degree angle to the body. Aside from the beder being all bent up there is no other body damage. Luckily i didnt lose control and hit anyone, but i am pissed.
I dont think that acura is gonna cover the damages.... even though there is a recall for the lower ball joint. The car has been in an accident were i hopped a curb going about 45 so the car has undergone some serious frame work 16hrs on the frame machine, but everything was fixed and the car drove staight. My bodyshop says that the ball joint failing really has nothing to do with the car being in an accident, acura is just making excuses.
my car is a 97 3.0cl w/ 105,000 miles
It needs a tranny and at least $2500 worth of work right now
so do you think that i should pursue and try to get acura to pay for the damages or is that a lost cause.
Thanks, John
P.S. im going to try to go to the shop to try and take some pics for u guys

You can write to Acura corporate... But good luck there. It sounds like you may have to suck it up and take the hit. But maybe they will make good because it is a recall item. In any case, glad to know you are OK. good luck.

acura took responsibility for my ball joint failure. I reported the problem they tried to fix it, next thing i know it fails 5 miles from the dealership. I pretty much owned them, free tow, loaner car, new ball joint, axle, and fender. It is a recall they should stand by the weak part.

Your VIN didn't fall under the recalled ones... but they still hooked you up? What did you say to them?

Call your dealer and give them your vin to see if you're part of any recalls

You can just go to the owner's link on acura's website and view all your recalls as well.
