Auto Transmission

how much did u guys pay to have ur transmission checked out and fixed...AAmco wants to start around $1800 and said it might cost up to $2500.
But before u guys did any repairs was there very noticeable problems?...

My Aamco rebuild (ended up being a complete rebuild - basically everything replaced) was a bit over $3K here in SF/San Jose. So far, it works fine 6 months later...they originally quoted me about the same as you BTW. I'm assuming you have a 3.0CL, 97-99.

That's alot of moohlah, not much more then a performance rebuild, heck an H22 w/ 5speed swap wouldn't cost that much more then 3g's if you hunt for some inexpensive mechanic work.

Goodness gracious thats too much!!

Man i remember when my altimas transmission went people were quoting me like $1100-ish to fix it so i decided to try a different approach..

I went to car-part.com (online junkyard) and i bought one with really low miles (cost me about $325 shipped with warranty)... then i got a shop to put it on for me (about $250 or so),... had the car for another year without problems....saved myself alooooot of cash doing that...

i only paid 300$ did it my self. the rebuild kit only costed 215$

the hardest part of it all was gettin the shaft nuts off the ends. (3 of them) thier torqued on there like 170ft lbs. thats crazy.
