Anyone using 225/45/18's on a 1st gen?

I was thinking about getting some new tires, I am feeling way too much road vibration with the 40 series, not to mention there is very little protection for my rims, I already had to replace one rim from hitting a pot hole. So, has anyone used a 225/45/18? Just wondering if there is any scrubbing?

well I know it would be tight and the speedo would be a little off, but I still have a little bit of room between the tire and control arm, just curious if anyone has used this size and what the outcome was?

don't really trust tire calculators. All tires are different in size. I've even seen two tires from the same company, yet different styles be completely off

225/45/17 - no problem although my son has bent one rim from potholes. The car is not lowered and htere is plenty of gap in the wheel well.
