Anyone Interested in my Front Lip Prototype?

Hey all,

Been a while since I posted...I wanted to know is anyone interested in my custom Front Lip? I redid it a little, looks similar to the Type-R lip but the center is projected a tad bit more (however, alot less than it was originally). Let me know if you are interested and I'll send it over to a shop my friend's brother owns and have it reproduced. I want to get a head count so I can prolly shoot you all a price. The lip will be constructed of quality laid fiberglass and most likely gel coated.

To Moderators: I'm not selling anything yet, just testing waters, and if there is enough interest, I'll be sure to set up an account with Acurazine or do whatever is needed.

To RonDog: This is by no means trying to cut your legs from under you. Rest assured that I am in line for your lip as soon as it is produced.

This lip is for those who want a lip and something a little different than the Type-R lip and since Wings West has temporarily suspended operations.

Here are some pics:

Let me know folks,
James

BTW, the lip lines aren't completely straight yet as it is room for any errors. Rest assured that the final lip will be perfect.

It's from 98-02 accords. He customized hood, fender and bumper to put those lights in.

I see no difference between the ww front lip and athloxs front lip.

BTW - athlox, no offense, those headlights look hideous on a CL.

On this shot the headlights look terrible.

Just talked to my friend's brother...the lip will probably go for under $150 depending on how many are wanted.

Also, as far as the headlights go...I have had mixed comments on them and have heard the better and the worse. To the worse of commentors all I have to say is oh well, not much else I can do about it. All I know is it is different and makes you think! And best of all it was all done by me and I am proud of it! The CL has been a great project car, I've been working on it for over two years now, on and off (heck, I still have to paint the fenders and bumper again), and I enjoyed every minute of it. But what I don't get is the headlights are nearly identical except for the sidemarker which is much longer and rectangular and the CL's is about half of it. At least I have functional signals in them and can do away with the bumper lights if I ever plan to put on a kit.

Anyhow, say whatever that needs to be said, I don't take anything to heart. It's straight to me, the better and worse always go together! But there's already a thread in the Photos section, can we please stick to the topic.

Thanks all,
James

IMO the lip looks fine but it being fiberglass can be an issue. Think about most of our cars are dropped and with a fiberglass lip it will chip easily. In regards to your car I think it looks different but once it is completely painted it may look a lot better.

athlox, what's the difference between your front lip and the wings west lip?
IMO the ww front lip still looks better.

BTW - I am in no way trashing you for your headlights. I give you props for doing
everything yourself. It's a matter of different taste. Nonetheless, good job!

Hey, like I said no offense taken. For me it really wasn't a matter of taste but functionality and funds. It was more cost efficient for me to use Accord headlights with a Projector retrofit than to purchase new CL headlights. That's the main thing, don't get me wrong I love the CL headlights and would get them if they were less than a hundred bucks for a pair.

Sorry bro, not to be an ass but there's a contradiction in that question of yours. If there is no difference in my lip and the WW lip then how does the WW lip look better??? Hehe, just messing with ya. First off, on the lower sides of the lip there are no triangular pieces but just completely curved. Secondly, the center lip is about an inch wider and has more of a projection. The centerpiece on the WW lip is only about an inch and a quarter wide. Mine has about two inches an a quarter. I think it gives the CL a lower stance and a smoother look. IMO, the WW lip is more agressive with the sharper edges and the more definitive lines. But like I said it's just an opinion. Other than that it is supposed to be similar as I designed it from the WW lip. BTW, you don't suppose for those who want a lip to go hunt down other CLs and just jack their shit would you?? :thief:

CLPlatano: I understand where you're coming from since the reason I "de-molded" the lip and the bumper from my car was due to the fact that a sidewalk cracked the rights side of my bumper. The lip didn't crack when it took the impact but sustained only minor scratches. As a lip, it is much more flexible than one would think. As a bumper then you really should be worried as there is no flex anywhere and the only way to yield is to crack.

I should have several of these lips before the month is up. I'll probably get a local to come and I'll have one painted and installed to let you all see how it looks on a CL with "CL headlights" Anyhow, try to see if we can get a list started and I'll have to communicate with the mods to see if we can get this rolling.

Peace,
James

I would personally like to see this lip on a CL.

Two things, 1:the lip looks great, except for the cross-hatch in the air dam. 2: what gives with the paint... You got white on cream or something... Just looks wierd is all. Props for the design, I like the shape, just ditch the cross-hatch.

First off define what you mean by cross-hatch? Secondly, my paint job is a three stage process after prepping. A layer of bright white is first laid down, then a second layer of the blue pearl and finally it is finished off with two to three layers of clear. What you see is just the white that was laid down, I didn't have time to finish laying the paint down since a cold front just passed us by and nights are the only times I have to work. Hey, chicks dig the cream plus it has "pretty colors" hehe!

Agranado and Divine, I should have some made by late next week so until then I'll keep you updated, but I should have completed pics of the lip by late Monday.

I've sent an email to astroboy, taken from the rules in the Black Market forums, and so far haven't yet received a response.

Let me know where I have to go from here please and whom am I supposed to contact?

Thanks,

but can you really see the lines on a darker colored vehicle? really. Blue is the nicest color to see all the lines you'd like to see everything match up with.
