How do you have your output tapped for your amp, i'm guessing you're using a line output converter which is tapped off your 6x9 OR the wires for your speaker are not terminated right at your head unit. Sounds like you did a slash and go job on your wires to hook that shiz up to stock

Did they know the other 6x9 wasn't working? Sounds like they either tapped off the existing wiring, in which case used a line output converter, or they ghettor rigged it to your 6x9 in which case you're not pushing a lot of power out to your amp or 6x9's. If you give me some more details about the way your good 6x9 is wired into your amp I may be able to help you further. Also check the bad speakers connections both in the wiring harness and at the speaker in the trunk

wouldnt the tweeters mounted in the sail sound better than the tweeters mounted in the stock location? if you ask me i think the ideal place to install them is the sail. when its installed in the sail it points out towards yourt ears rather than pointing up where the stock is located.

That's what I thought, that's why I made the thread. Chuckz did you mount any aftermarket tweeters?

the location thing has been discussed, if the speaker is on the sail it will point straight at your ears, but i would imagine it could get too loud sometimes. the stock location is designed to point straight up and bounce off the windsheild towards you as if the sound is coming from in front of you, and then its also harder to tell where the sound is coming from.

This pic doesn't really focus on the tweeter, but you get the idea.

When I was installing mine, I had a friend hold the passenger side tweeter while I was holding the driver side, and we adjusted them to all different angles until it didn't sound too harsh, or direct

i havn't installed any aftermarket tweeters yet. i plan on doing so within the next month or two. this thread that you have started is just what i needed for my own purposes. but i still wonder what is the clearance like behind the sills . ideally i want to do a flush mount install but based on the pics it might not be possible.

I have type-R comps as well. When installing them they woudlnt fit back in the stock position so I just put them right next to it. Ive been lazy ever since and never got around to finding a new place to put them

Flush mount doesn't look possible. I took off the door sail and there aint much clearance. I'm still debating with myself if I wanna do this way or not, I think i'm gonna try the stock location first, cuz if I screw them up, I can always just cover them back up. I do have a set of spare mirror sails too, in case I feel like cuttin. Not sure what to do yet. ER
