Anyone install dome tweeters in their mirror sails?

If so, please post pics. How much depth/clearance was there? Trying to figure out if I can mount my tweeters there. The mirror sails are the black plastic trims that covers the mirror wires for someone that doesn't know what i mean. I've seen people's pics mounting them in the stock location and in the door itself, but haven't seen any mounted in the mirror sails. Anyone done it and have pics?

if your doing it for a better sound, custom kick panels will project a better sound imo...

Not doing it for "better" sound, doing it because my new matched dome tweeters won't fit in the stock location

Mount them on the door somewhere. To get the best sound out of them they are supposed to be within 12" of the woofer.

I dont think the mirror sails are deep enough to mount them flush. I dont think they would look great if they were not mounted flush.

don't mount them flush....break out the fiberglass and resin and make them look like the Civic Sir (or US EX) ones, and have them angled and stuff

mb quart up front where stock tweeters go, correct?

how much did you spend on em and which ones? I want to upgrade my tweets before I throw down on a small woofer... already have 6x9's and 6 1/2's...

you got 6 1/2" speakers but no tweeters
did you get coaxial speakers? you're supposed to get component speakers, a set of 2 woofers, 2 tweeters, and 2 crossovers.. i was just wondering what you did/planned to do, i dont know if anything bad can result from using coaxials and tweeters up front, as long as you have crossovers, deinitely have crossovers, you dont want the full range of signals goin to your new tweeters, it just might end up being more expensive in the end instead of buying a set, oh and you'll have to run new wiring to the tweeters, have fun, sorry for rambling lol

thats what i did, my alpine tweeters fit in there fine, i had to cut very little plastic that you cant see when the tweeters in the dash, and bend the metal bracket that goes on the bottom of the tweeter, screw the tweeter to the speaker grille, pop it back in, real easy

Anyone mount 1" tweeters in the stock location? would bending the brackets be enough? It looks way too small from everything i've read. Most people mounted like 3/8" tweeters

I mounted 1" alpine tweeters, I have the 6.5" type r component system. I remember exactly what i did now, there was a metal bracket that went across the bottom of the stock tweeter, two screws held it onto the bottom of the plastic/fabric part that sits in the dash, and one screw goes into the center of the bottom of the tweeter. the holes for the 2 screws outside the tweeter had to be shortened, I just used pliers to break half of the holes away, then used longer screws becasue the original ones werent long enough, the tweeter was deeper so it moves the bracket a bit further away from the plastic grille part. the screw holes had to be cut because the tweeter was too wide to fit in between them, and the screw in the center of the stock tweeter with the bracket fit into the hole on the bottom of the alpine tweeter, I'll take some pics in a little bit for you, hope that helped.

Thanks nippon, I looked at those pics b4 I posted this, cuz i thought i remembered you putting them in the mirror sails but I realized i was wrong. I don't wanna put them in the door there, cuz like someone mentiond in your thread, rain water drips right there I am interested for anyone that can help me or give me pointers on either the mirror sills or maybe the stock location if you can tell me how to mod it

tweeter location

i have the same problem right now... i hooked up the stock tweeter into my cross over b'cuz i couldn't fit my aftermarket tweeter in that location. from my understanding it would be better to relocated the tweeter and have them in the plastic where the mirror is or mount them into your door panel = ( right now i have a wire coming down from the stock tweeter into the door which leads to the crossover... it looks kinda of sloppy so i am going to get it mounted in the mirror even though it would be flush mounted....
the ALPINES:
6.5 with the 1in silk tweeter alpine type r's how are they by the way im actually going to ge those????

Sorry for the blurry picture, I just took it tonight... right now.

I basically just cut a hole with a dremel and literally dropped my Focal Tweeter into the stock cover thingy since the Focal tweeter has a lip to catch it from falling through.

alright blackack, here you go, this is the driver side tweeter, sorry its blurry:

Screws marked A hold the bracket to the speaker grill, and the screw marked B holds the tweeter to the bracket.
The red box shows where the A screw goes into the hole, and you can clearly see how I had to break some of it away, I had to do this with both screw holes.
