Anyone got tips on installing fender side markerlights?

I got some JDM ones I want to put in. I've seen them on a CL in this forum. Got any input, let me know. Thanks.

drill hole, run wire up to the front of the car and tap into your turn signals.......put them in a good spot man, dont put em too high on the fender..check the lines of our car and make a wise decision....also, once you do it, theres no turning back...so be careful! also, i'd do a little silcone around the backing of the side marker and tape it on..im sure theres 3m sticker or something like that with it, but you dont want water getting in that freshly drilled hole and rusting!

Yeah, I think it's going to take a little more than just drilling a hole. These lights are off a JDM Prelude. I'll have to drill a hole, then cut it into a slot. The lights have a tab thats kinda spring loaded so when you pop it in, it pulls back and snaps in place. Just getting it centered, I think is going to be the hard part. Fuck it, I'll get it right.

What I'm going to do first, is make a template for the lights. It will be for the inside parimeter of the light. On these lights there is a slot for the back(facing the door) and the little metal tab torwards the front. I will make my template out of thin cardboard. That way it's sturdy and I can trim it to set in just like stock. The other thing is, location. Where will the look best, and getting it even with the other side. That will take some measurements. Once I have my template dialed in on the fender, i'll mark it and drill some holes inside the area to be cut out. I should be able to fine tune the hole with some metal files.

are you planning on leaving the fender on when you do this or will you take the fender off?

Fuck, good question. I think I will take them off just because I've never done it and material from cutting will definately get behind it. I can clean out all the shit thats been collecting behind it the last seven years if I take it off!
