this has happened as long as i've owned the car (3 months) but i know its my tranny........well, first off it doesnt shift smoothly, and second when im braking, everythings slowing down and then all of a sudden it stops hard with a little shudder....like it was downshifting rough or something. I tried stopping in nuetral and no sharp shudder........should i worry or what, i mean....97 2.2cl with 30,000 miles......you'd think there would still be a few miles to go before worrying about the tranny?!?!?! OR WOULD YOU?

 

I know that there is a hesitation in my cl 3.0 from first to second gear, but everyone has that. As far as the brakes go, I have not experienced that in my cl, but my 1997 civic does the exact same thing when braking, its like the car is slowing down and right before it stops it makes that sudden jerk. Maybe just a Honda trademark or something.

 

yea it happens to my 97 3.0 too but the shift from 1sr to 2nd was more gentler and the braking stopped when i changed my gas from a 89 octane to a 87 octane...maybe you should try that

 

check your trans fluid this happened to me and i brought it to the dealer and they said that i needed to add trans fluid. good luck !!!

 

LISTEN!!! i did the whole dealer deal.....they said the trans fluid was BLACK!!!!so they changed and i specifically asked them to check and see if it could be something.........so they checked, did the change and no difference....WHATEVER!!!! but thatnks!

 

I think that stuff is normal...
