Anyone else totalled their cl or other car, I have some insurance questions.

For those who don't know I hit a patch of ice did a 990 spin and slammed into a bank three times on three sides. Total damage -$9,000. The insurace totalled it. About how much can I expect to get for the insurance money Ive never had a wreck or even a ticket (Incompatent Highway patrol). Do the inurance companies use the NADA or Kelly blue book values?

im not sure what they use to get the value, im sure all companies are different, but if the damage is more than 75-80% of the value it will be totalled. (ive had 2 totals)
as far as any money u will see from it, your insurance will payoff your loan, if there is one, and u will get the difference minus your deductible.

I use safeco insurance, the car is completely paid for and my deductible is only $500. I looked on Kelly blue books sight and my retail value is estimated at $11,935 and on NADA its $10,025. I doubt i will see that much but im hoping at least for 85% - 90% minus the deuctible. So again if anyones ever toltalled a car how much did you recive back? Any help would be greatly appreaciated. Because as much as id like to get another 2.3 or a SH prelude I might only be able to afford a 94 civic sohc with no radio, no ps, no abs, no power windows or loncks, and only one side mirro yikes.

im pretty sure banks use NADA so insurance prolly uses the same.
so from what u said above and a simple math equasion id say you should expect about $9,500. why dont u call your ins co and ask them how they calculate the value of a totaled car?

Well I totaled my civic before getting a CL. I had just had the engine replaced a week before have the rear tire blow out sending me all over the road and into some trees. I ended up getting exactly what I owed on the car because I had just refinanced. I had to get the money for the engine from some where. When the bank refinanced it they gave me a new loan for the wholesale value for my car. Initially the insurance company didn't want to give me that much money for my car but I kept haggling them and it slowly keep increasing once I got them to the point it was paid off I quit haggling. So my best advice is to try and get more money out of the insurance company because their first offer isn't there best offer in addition tell them stuff you have done to your car to improve it's value. Good luck

Before my CLS, my GSR was totalled...I have State Farm. Basically, they told me they do a study on what my car (within 50 miles of my home) sold for. I did a search on Auto Trader and got an average price for my car. Basically, that's what I got, maybe just a tad bit better. Most Integras that sold had mods while mine was stock though. If you have mods, they might not take it into account, so you may need to point them out. If they still refuse to take it into account, they will allow you to remove it, but you need to replace what you remove if it's part of the car.
