oh boy...this has been covered a ton of times. Is it possible? Yes. It it reliable or practical? Not unless you have alot of know-how w/motors, and since ur asking i'm guessing ur not that knowledgable. Ur better off with a straight swap or going turbo. BUT if you'd like to try to pull it off, please be my guest. I actually have some parts you'd need to get started that i'll be posting on Ebay soon.

i wouldnt be the one doing the work. my buddies that i share a garage with would be doing the swap. both have been working on acuras/hondas for about 6 or 7 years and if all else fails ill just get my dad to help thats been working at acura for 22 years

well theres alot of pointers that you'll need to figure out to get everything right. I'm not on my normal comp, but i have a few links from honda-tech.com that would be useful that i looked up when i was gonna tackle the job, but it took too much time for me. When i get home after my final tomorrow i'll hook it up. Also let me know if ur looking to shop for the parts.

well your stock motor is 150 or 160 Hp, i forget. This setup usually yields around 190 HP, but the main additive is torque. Its a great setup to gain torque (and also fun w/dohc). But its also VERY boost friendly because your compression ratio will be DIRT low, therefore allowing you to boost with great results, and also up to about 10-12 pounds depending on how well you assembled the longblock, milled the head and shortblock, plugged the oil drainage between the F23 and H22 headgasket, etc etc. Its ALOT of work, and its reliability is questionable, but people who have done it and boosted the stock F23 block (since it's iron its also good for boost) have seen around 300-350hp. Too much for me to do w/an engineering major and being president of my chapter of my frat here at PSU, i had NO time to complete it.

LOL...u sure you've been working on honda motors for a long time? when that DOHC vtec hits, trust me you'll feel it lol. 2 other alternatives to this extensive head swap is putting in an H22, or going turbo on your f23. Also, you could get a nonvtec H23 block and put an H22 head on it, and swap that in. There's a myriad of options.

what u should really do is narrow down what you're looking for, a race car (which the CL is not and would take a fair amount of work to do), a street car with a fair amount of horsepower, a highway cruiser w/ some quickness or high top end, etc etc. Then you can plan your moves more accordingly.

we have had a few different setups on this board, from extreme to mild.
J35 6spd w/nos,
H22 turbo,
H22 w/nos
F23 turbo
F23 w/nos,
H22 N/A swap,
F20B swap,
or F23 w/just mild mods.
It all depends on your goal/preferences. The 1st Gen CL has more potential than most think.
