I know, I feel like it's in a different position than my other cars. Namely towards the rear of the tank, At highway speed I can have a 1/4 tank as long as I dont hit the brakes, once on an off ramp the gauge usually drops say an 1/8th of a tank. It's not a big deal, but I think it works better in the other configuration with it towards the front, so most of the time it'll read lower than it is.
These bobber type gauges wear out quite often too, I've changed out a few before, usually some of the resistance wire breaks. Which brings up a different thought, technically if you consistently fill up all the way and not fill till almost empty, this simple gauge will wear less since it doesn't vary a small degree up and down and instead spends equal times at all heights of the gauge.

Yeah, more often then not, the bobber gains density over time from slowly absorbing gas, so it starts moving less. also, the arm that holds it can corrode and rust, along with the rubber lubed pieces on the arm. just hinders the movement
