any difference between 96-97 and 98-99?

Hi guys! L3G10N on kiwi's computer.

I was wondering if there's any difference between 96-97 and 98-99 as we can find on every generation of accord?

Like different tails slight difference on the headlight etc etc.

I;ve not seen anything on the noob topic related to this.

Tnx in adavance!!

Grilles, wheels, 2.2/2.3 motor stock for the 4 cylinder models. Interior is slightly different. 98+ has steering wheel audio controls, different console / interior panels. Heated mirrors on 98+ also I believe. I *think* 98-99 also has homelink as an option? Not sure. 98+ also has immobilizer keys. There are many differences but I am not sure of them all as I have a 97.

different grille, and slightly different center console, different gauge colors, 98-99 came with leather on all levels, new wheels for every year and 97 had the f22b1 while 98-99 had the f23. and 97 3.0 transmission is different from the 98-99 3.0, and also all 97's had hub over rotor brakes in the front while 98-99 were normal rotor design.

No such thing as a 96 CL, only 97-99.

The 97's have the following differences:

Hub over rotor brake design.
Grille is different
No immobilizer
Slightly different interior ("simpler"), also had other colors I believe
Gauge cluster has a different font/white needles instead of red
F22 engine instead of F23
3.0 transmission is different
I also believe that there was some difference in the ignition and the EGR system, which is why only the 97's were recalled.

Each model featured different wheels. Headlights and taillights are identical. 98-99 are virtually identical. That's all I can think of off hand.

no such thing as 96, but 97 has black sideskirts compared to colored ones on 98-99.

almost everything has been covered
-immobilizer in 98+
-hub over rotor on 97 fronts
-grill
-painted skirts on 98+
-different console and more woodgrain in 98+
-standard leather in 99
-steering wheel volume controls on 98+
-gauge colours

the brakes are the only thing that bothered me, almost every 98+ owner wants the 97 grill and it's rare. so be happy. everything you can retrofit or paint.

I don't think my '97 Premium has heated mirrors. I thought it was some sort of "winter package" that was only available on the 3.0's. Where was the button to turn them on?

*edit* Maybe the Canadian models had it on the 2.2's.

Yeah, same here. I was browsing through my owners manual when I first got my car and saw "Heated Mirrors". I was like, "dang, this thing really is a luxury sedan!" Even though I never use it... Haha.

it's actually kinda neat, the switch is tied into the climate control and only comes on when it's cold enough outside. i thought it was broken at first but eventually it got cold out and the switch lit up.

The colors have been posted on here many times. I have been trying to sell a brand new cargo net for like 2 years

Took me a while to figure that out, I was going to tap the power from this switch till I figured it out.

Jjst thought I'd throw it in here my 97 premium has the heated mirrors(switch is at controls). I have always wondered the diff between years. So the tranny is diff with 97 and the following years but all years are garbage correct? I do wish my side skirts we're painted(gonna take care of that).

Quick Reply: any difference between 96-97 and 98-99?
