Ants Everywhere!!!!
Well to top out my wonderful powerless weekend in my apartments with the power being out for 3 days and all my shit going bad in the house, you thought the east coast had it bad try all the rotting food outside in the dumpster from all the people living here that they dont pick up till the end of the week.
but yesterday i went out to my car to get a cd and i open the passenger side do to find, guess what ANTS!!!!
all over my door sills, some on the dash, in the cup holder, but the weird thing was that they were on both sides of the car. but heres where the twist comes in, i went to go vacum the car out of all the ants and spray shit, i go the the vacum place and come back and in that time i went to get my shit out of the passenger side and more ANTS
so here i am with cleaner and soaking these mother fuckers but this was the first day.
i wake up this morning to find no ants on the door sills anymore but now they have decided to congregate on my center console and coming out from my climate control some on the dash and i found a couple on my guages, these fuckers wouldnt stop so i doused them again today :flamer:
so hopefully i wont have this problem anymore cause ANTS SUCK!!! i dont know where they all came from but go away my car does not need ants, fucking bastard bugs get youur own car
but just wanted to vent, thanks

Dragon flies and Ants!!!
Even though this thread had nothing to do with CL's.... It's the funniest thing I've seen here. The NOS'd Hybrid post was funny too, but... Thanks for posting your ant story. I've never had that happen. Dragonflies love shiney cars though. Those bastards swoop on my shit all day when I'm trying to install. I caught one though. He's now stiff. I'm about to make a statue out of his carcas. Maybe this will warn away his family.

i know im bringing this drastically back from the dead but i need help...im going through this same thing now! There are swarms of ants crawlings out and around my side sills of my doors, my center console and aroudn the dash...i went to sit in my car and i see the little bastards crawling in swarms everywhere. I was on my way somewhere so i grabbed a bottle of fantastik antibacterial spray and pulled a nutty soaking the fuckers everywhere, but when i was driving they were still popping up and crawling around. I almost crashed five times because i was trying to squish and spray them when i was driving....Fuck, i feel so gross, i hate ants....
please anyone whos had this happen or anyone with any knowledge or ideas please help me out!

Clean rotted food out of your car But yeah dude, find where they're coming in at, and vacuum out all the ants you can find. Try to kill them as thoroughly as you can

these are the little fuckers that travel in packs of lke 100 at a time..im not sure what kind they are, i really dont care, i noticed some red marks on my legs though after driving in the car after i spotted them, i dont know if they bite or not.
there is no food in the car. Theres nothing in the car but besides maybe dust and dirt. No spilled food, no old food laying around, none of that.
And the thing is, we park on the grass around here, and my ghetto house doesnt have a driveway so im parked on my front lawn, and my landlord doesnt believe in cutting the grass more than once a month so the grass is long as all hell, i think this might be why theyre getting in there cause the grass is basically touching the bottom of my car you know. So im afraid even if i clean them out, theyll be right back.
Does anyone know the actual name of the bomb thing? cause it wouldnt look too good to go into a grocery store and ask the employee where the bombs are located lol

Don't know what it's called, but I would go to a gardening place or somewhere like Lowe's or Home Depot before I'd go to a gracery store...

you can buy a bug bomb they are like 5 bucks at most but I would just spray
also what I found out that works is ajax, yes boys and girls...........AJAX!!!!
they hate it, take off your sills and sprinkle some there, spread it around the seals and some around the edges, but after your spray, you dont want to keep them trapped in there, I use AJAX to put around my house to prevent them from coming in and also around my Grape vines
ITS WORKS!!!
and BTW...................talk about bringing my tread back form the dead a little of 2 years ago

i did some investigative work on the foggers..they dont exactly sound safe or effective for indoor settings (which a car would fall into).
What exactly did you spray with 97? Was it a ant/insect killer? or just a cleaner?
About the lysol...i used fantastik antibacterial, which is compareable to Lysol and i dont think it did much.

if you really wanna fuck up an insect, douse that bitch with draino or liquid plumber and then watch it melt into nothing. i do it on spiders. no legs in like 1 second.
as for insects in the car, i had ants/spiders in my mazda when i bought it, they were freaking everywhere. it was cuz i was parking in the grass, i switched over to paved parking and i havent seen a single one since. i wouldnt go as far as using a fogger inside the car cuz that stuff's too concentrated (if you could find a way of reducing the amount thats produced or maybe leave the sunroof tilted so its not all stuck in there then maybe).
your best bet would probably be to buy a box of ant baits and put all them in your car (in discrete places)

This is a very unusual thread. Funny.
Ants follow paths. If they're coming from an ant colony they send out scouts and if it finds anything interesting here comes the army. You can thoroughly clean and they still come for ages after that. I've seen them cross a well-cleaned floor along the same route they'd used before. If you park your car in the same spot, and they found something they liked weeks ago, like spilled coffee with sugar or a bit of donut, they will keep coming. If you can terminate this bunch try parking in a different location for a week or so and see if they come back.
Invest in a hand lawn mower and mow just the part you park on.
Sit in a lawn chair and wait for them to arrive. Then you can see where they're coming from. I didn't have ants but I did have an old Valiant (sniff, I loved my slant6) and the first owner had the door bottoms drilled for rust proofing. the plugs stopped up and over the 20 years of life it had accumulated a lot of dirt in there. Maybe you have your own colony.
Ants bite - particularly the little ones - and you don't feel it immediately.
Better you than me.
