Another Transmission topic......it's short I promise.

So I called 3 Acura dealers today for quotes on a Tranny flush.

Dealer 1 wanted $68.95

Dealer 2 wanted $89.00

Dealer 3 wanted $165.00

All 3 dealers are within 10-15 miles apart. Dealer 3 told me they would flush it out 3x’s $100 for labor $65 for the flush. Is this normal procedure (flushing it 3 times)???? I called dealer 2 and they said it was only a drain and fill……flushing it more than once will fuck something up I forgot (tiny spring or bits??) My dilemma is that I made an appointment with dealer 1 without asking him about their procedure.

Who should I go with, the cheapest??? or the $165 and hope he’s not bullshitting me about flushing it more then once.

After doing a search on this topic I’m a little worried about some of the cases where the tranny failed after the flush.

How much did everyone pay for their flushes and what was the procedure????

I also have the option of bringing it to a local mechanic who would flush, fill with cheap fluid, drain and then fill with HONDA fluid.

Give me some feed back and stories. Sorry for the novel.

Ok I just found out that a drain and fill only service will cost between $68-89 and a Flush which means they drain fill run through the gears and repeat the process 3-4 times will run between $165-$210. The guy told me they only flush if you are having problems with the tranny normally they just recomend changing the fluid every 15K miles.

I told him it's been 35k since I changed mine and he told me it was up to me on which service to go with. I'm clueless do i just do a drian and fill for now?? Or just get it over with and pay the $165

lol....damn dude.....first off, I do my flushes every 10,000 miles....itz been fine, it wont fuck your shit up (at least not for me)...second off...do it yourself....it'll cost you the price of the fluids ( i use synthetic, so it runs for about 50 bucks)....if you decide to do it yourself, just ask....we'll be more than happy to give you step by step instructions.....

screw going to dealerships....and top off your fluids for 80 bucks, lol...you can get the fluid yourself for 3 bucks and top it off, lol......hate them damn dealerships...their not fucking mechanics, their crooks (did not mean to offend anyone, my badz...but after being screwed once, i decided to do everything myself or take her to shops i can trust)....

I just flushed my tranny last weekend (after 15K miles).

I paid $3.99 per quart at the local Honda Dealer (you need 10 quarts).

It took 2 hours total:

Drain fluid and refill = 3.1 quarts
Drive 25 miles
Drain fluid and refill = 3.1 quarts
Drive 25 miles
Drain fluid and fill for final time = 3.1 quarts

This method doesn't get 100% of the old fluid out, but it gets a sizeable majority. Keep in mind that it takes 7.6 quarts to refill the entire tranny after a dealer/shop flush. You're using 9.3 quarts doing it the way I did. Total cost was $42.00 plus gas to drive 50 miles. Another plus is that this method does not sitr up any metal particles that may be lying at the bottom of the tranny.
