AMP Wiring

What is the best place to get the power from for a 100 W amp other than directly from the battery. (Getting the power wire from inside the hood to the trunk seems very dificult)
Aren't there any unused fuses in the cabin where I can tap the power from on a 98 3.0? ( I got the remote and the ground from the trunk itself)

Any help is appreciated

no run a seperate wire with a fuse on it...the only and safest way. unless you are planning on replacing your whole electrical system any time soon

Would it be safe to run the wire through under the car? I bought a pretty thick wire (10 G I think) with fuse? May be even put it in a sleeve while it goes under the car.

Or is there an easy/good spot on the firewall where I could poke the wire through?

If you really don't want to mess with it, a good shop should do it for you for less than $50.

if you look above the brake pedal there is a piece of rubber with wire goin in take it out shove it in there...or drill a new hole thru the firewall...id stay away from running a wire under the car...its too exposed..

10 gauge is thick? no, that's thin as hell. i wouldn't go any lower than 8 guage. i use 2 and 0 for my car. but i'm running 3 amps

i run a 4 guage to the distribution block and 2 - 8 guage out to one amp, the extra is room for expansion later, i did have 2 amps b4 but i blew both of them and then got a new one

and you can run the wire through the firewall hole above on the driver side, well thats at least where i ran mine

I have 0 gauge wire run through that hole, if i can fit that you can fit anything. BTW hiding the 0 gauge under your carpet is like cramming 10 socks in your undies, it's kind of hard not to notice it

I feel you on that one, I used 2 gauge but it's the flat wire from crutchfield. and yes 10 guage is very small.

DAMN.... 1 o's gauge and 2 4 gauges... Do you have a full list of the system with pics? i thought my car was gonna be pretty crazy, but i will only run 1 0 gauge wire to the back to a distribution block.. The distribution block will got to a bat cap, and another distribution block that will feed the amps. I will be running a tantrum 1400 watt d class amp, and a tantrum 400 watt amp. I think 0 gauge will acutally support something like 3000 watts according to phoenix gold. i will be running 2 id max 12's in a slot ported box, and should be good for 150 + db... The car will be mainly sq, but the spl will be there. Interiors i have now are amazing... If any of you guys want new interior speakers and have the money get mb quart q's.. I can turn my alpine cd player up to 35(100 percent volume) and the head unit is going to an interior phoenix gold amp that puts out 530 watts rms. none of my interior speakers distort at all. The mb quart q's in the front get so loud they almost hurt to listen to........ I LOVE THEM... to bad they retail for 1500 and sell for like 1049.... Chris

I think that's what he's talking about (otherwise is gross overkill). 0/1 ga to a block, then 0/1 still to his larger amp, and 4 to each of the smaller amps.
