Am I doing this right???

I was trying to advance my ignition timing by a few degrees.... so all I have to do is unbolt the 3 bolts and turn this whole thing counter clockwise right???

Yes thats correct, but the ECU will reset the timing back to where it wants it since its OBD2.

It can "sense" the timing is off by the cylinder position sensor, and two crank position sensors.

Even with my cam gear (which moves the distributor from the other side of the cam), the timing stays constant at 15 degress btdc with the service connector jumpered, regardless of cam gear setting.

My brothers prelude was the same way. Moved his distributor all the way back on the dyno and NO change.

I've proved it on a dyno with a OBD2 prelude.

You can move the distributor either way and show no HP change.

are you saying a cam gear is completely useless?

No.

The cam gear will change the valve timing.

I gained 5 hp by retarding my cam by 8 crank degrees.

The dynos are on my webpage in my sig.

5whp?

retarding it helps the high end of the torque curve?

Yes whp.

I did not pull my engine and put it on an engine dyno to check the gains/tune a cam gear.
