?- To All w/ Sidemarker Lights...

For Everyone W/ Sidemarker Lights Installed In The Fenders.....

I was just wondering how hard the install was for them. I talked to my local bodyshop and they told me that the sidemarker lights might be harder to install than I thought. (ie: removing the rockerpanels, removing the bumper, fenders...etc. And then they said if they drill the holes through the fenders, they might have to repaint the whole fender....

Basically they told me worse case senario would be a $600 install for the sidemarker lights if they had to remove all that crap and re-paint.

Basically im just wanting to know from you all who already have them installed:

What sidemarker lights do u have?
Did u get them installed somewhere or do it yourself?
Do you know what all they had to do to install them?
(Did they have to repaint the fenders, remove the fenders...etc....basically how much work did it take to have your installed...)

My bodyshop wanted me to ask you guys whos have had them installed first, before they try to install mine. The wernt sure if there was enough room in the inner fender, or if they'd have to remove all that crap...and then maybe paint...

How hard was the sidemarker install for all of you guys? Did you have to remove then bumper, fender, repaint the fender after drilling the holes...etc...I just need to find out what others did and had to do so therefor my bodyshop has an idea on how to approach this install.

Thanks!
-CJ

I had them on my old accord. You could do the install yourself. There is plenty of room. If you look on ebay you can get the actual Honda JDM amber ones. Thats what im gonna get. All you have to do is mark the hole. Then you could probably just cut it out with a dremel. There is no need to repaint the whole fender. What for?

Besides, it not like they take up a whole lot of room. They are only like 1.5" high total. So your looking at maybe 3/4 inside the fender. . If you pay 600 bucks i will fly out there and bitch slap you myself!!!!

its very easy to do, and you dont have to remove the bumper, you can just let it hang there.

they said they were afarid that drilling into the fender would cause them to have to repaint it....but this is a very well known bodyshop locally and you should see what creations they make...i trust them...they were just givin me total rought estimates. They had noo clue about sidemarker lights & installing them on my car when i asked them...thats why they didnt know how difficult or long it would take them...and they didnt know if they would have to repaint or not...Thats why im askin u guys.

Soo basically, its easy to do...should take very long, and shoulnt have to re-paint...(so i shoudnt expect to spend $$ on hourly labor then either) Good..thanks for the help! Yea im gettin the JDM amber ones too...but I wonder if they come with a template to use to cut out the hole??

you dont need to drill into the fender or anything. look on the DIY section under 1st gen discussion. it outlines all you need to do. trust me i'm not too handy at all when it comes to car stuff but this clear corner install only involves taking a screw out and unhooking the lights.

alll you have to do is drill a big enough hole for the side marks to fit. depends on what you get...and then sand down the edges and paint it with touch up paint to unsure that there is no rust. then you open your wheels well and run wires. I ran mine to the signal and corner light so that the side marks stay on and blink when my blinkers go off. but its an easy project. just dont be afraid of drilling. You dont need to pay 500 for it...you can do it yourself.

Some are round that you would just drill a hole and then it has two other screwes that you screw into your body. The OEM JDM ones square. You have to cut a square out of you body and the light clips in. Thats how you put it in and out to change the light. It just clips into the body.

BTW, the square has to be pretty accurate too. The front slides onto the panel, then the back has a spring clip that holds it onto the back side...
