Alarm Siren

Does our alarm siren turn itself off?

I only did one "test". I set the alrm off, then turned it off via the remote after 1 min 10 sec. [I was worried that my neighbors would get pissed.]

My concern is, now that I have the shock sensor wired to the stock alarm, if some ricer sets if off with his exhaust, I am no where near my car to know this (when at work).

Will the siren continuously blow, or does it shut off at a certain point?

Thanks!

I've never let it go for more than 10 seconds or so - soooo loud and annoying.

Although I've had it go off in my driveway (battery issue?) for no good reason and it just kept going and going - must have been at least 5 minutes or so before I shut it off.

why dont u get a 2 stage shock sensor, it will only make a noise if for a second for small vibrations like a someone bumping into it or exhaust and alarm for a long time if for say a basketball was thrown into it

^^^Won't work. Once our alarm is triggered, it will stay on until it's properly shut off.

However, I may try to use a dual stage with the chirp function (like when you lock your doors) if I can figure it out.

It shuts off eventually like 3 mins max well for the 97 3.0. Im gettin a new alarm soon with the ability to set the shock sensor from the remote. The stock alarm really dosen't have enough features for me.

I'm feeling the same way. I should have just had my Uncle install the Viper alarm system instead of just the shock sensor. I would prefer a dual-stage set-up.

BTW:

Thanks to everyone who responded!

I feel a little better that my battery won't drain just because some little ricer fucker set off my alarm!

Re: Alarm Siren

You mean to say you've wired aftermarket stuff to the stock alarm? I'd be interested in hearing about this.

My passenger side window being smashed and trunk being opened when my stereo got stolen either didn't cause my siren to go off or wasn't loud enough to wake me up. The cops sure woke me up though.. Main reason I don't want to go HID is those are visibly non-stock lenses and easy to steal in a hurry. I heard TL's have a really bad theft problem with HID's because they fit in the Honda Accord..

Since you have the remote start already you minus well go with the viper. Personally i like the clifford because you can adjust the sensitivity of the shock sensor from the remote. It also hosts some other features like interior mic to pick up any interior noises after the alarm is set and a up/down feature which if the evevation of the car changes the alarm would sound (some one jacking up the car to take off the rims.
