Airbag question

Sad to say but I got into a car accident today, first time and God was it scary - I was in one of those traffic circles trying to merge when the guy in front of me started to zoom off so I glanced over my shoulder to see how traffic was and for some reason he slammed on his brakes even though he could have gone and I couldn't stop in time - Both cars towed, no tickets issued so I guess it was more of a no fault thing - His Tiberon had what looked like cosmtic damage and a flat tire and my whole front bumper ripped off, my cool clear lenses shattered and the left side is all driven back a couple inches - So anyway my question is should the air bag have gone off? It didn't but my brother mentioned it and I was just wondering like what speed Acura says is the minimum for air bag deployment - Thanks
Melanie

I think it has to be over 30mph or something close to it and it has to be a head on collision.
