i'm using my stock headunit and i installed a 12" JL W6 with a 2 channel amp... the only thing i found is that when you turn ur head unit off... the sub will start making loud noises because the headunit won't turn off the amplifier so your going to need a switch to turn off your amp.. and it will work great.. im very satisfied with mine.. im getting a new head unit shortly... Good luck!

IF you pull out the radio and probe with a DVM, you will find one of the wires goes 12v+ when the radio comes on. THis is the power antenna output, however not used on our vehicles.
Regardless, with the radio off, the sub shouldn't make any noise. If it is, you have grounding problems or something else providing unwanted input to the amp.

THe Bose setup is unique. THe head unit only provides low level output to the Bose amplifier. Tapping the outputs on the factory head unit, and running them into the (high) line-level inputs on an amplifier will result in having to adjust your amplifiers gain to a very high setting, resulting in poor audio and background noise. If you tap the post-amplified wires, you should be ok.
Another thing to be carefull of, is down converters. These are used to "step-down" the high powered, amplified outputs ona speaker wire, and make it so it can be inputed into the low-level inputs on the amplifier. These work ok, but make sure you are tappign the applified wires near the speaker, as opposed to pre-amplified behind the radio.
Somehting that may be interesting to find out, is tap the pre-amplified wires, and added RCA type jacks to it to run into the low-level inputs on the amp. I am not sure what the output voltage is on the radio wires, but seeing as theya re going into a Bose amplifer, I am assuming they are probably damn close to a aftermarket head unit's low level outputs.

Don't ever put subs with our type of stock deck; won't sound good at all. find yourself a deck with an equilizer and condsider buying an amp if you want it to hurt. Be prepared, you will have a lot of work ahead of you if you want good sound, our trunks rattle like KRAZY! Dynomat will be good company(thicker is better)
