Yes some decent 6x9 will help you add some bass. The best bet for some decent bass is adding a a subwoofer. You might want to even consider getting a single 8 inch sub or a bazzoka bass tube or something small like that. But if you dont want anything at all in your trunk some nice 6x9 will be better than the stock speakers.

Check out Infinity References. Thats what I'm getting now that I got lows taken care of. They got amazing highs and mids. Bose doesn't have shit for highs or lows.

I put some Pioneer 6x9s in my 98 and they just barely fit. The magnets push against the crossbars that provide the spring in my trunk. I was worried when I was installing them but it worked out fine. When I pop my trunk it doesn't spring all the way open on its own but after I lift it up it stays open fine. I think I actually like it better that way.
So make sure they don't hang too deep.

I am going to put 8" mid bass subs in my 6x9 holes. You don't need highs coming from the rear of the car. With a little work 8's will fit. I do see a lot of people recommend Bostons in here, but I would get MB Quarts over anything. MB Quarts are the most award winning speaker made to date and mine kick ass.

Hey,

I'll let u know what i think of my new Infinity Kappa 693.5 speakers. I had diamond motorsport 6.5's in there, but they blew so I'm trying a 6x9 in there. I'm running 75x4 rms from an amp to my interiors.

I have 2 12" as well... but imma take them out first to see how the speakers sound.

??? I've never heard of that happening. If that is the case, it should be covered under warranty. Speaking of Infinity speakers, the owner's grandson goes to Emory.

well if u lookin for bass u not gonna get too much from a 6x9. if u gonna do that and opt NOT to go w/a sub woofer then go w/some infinity's. they have a little better bass response than the bostons. the bostons tho are hella clean. they're much brighter in the mids and highs than the infinity's. i was runnin boston pro 6.5s in the front of my 99 cl and the rm 9s in the back. i been sellin car audio since 95 and i always go for the bostons.... this time tho i'm gonna try something new. i'm gonna try the infinity kappa perfects since i'm plannin to run the 12's. i just yanked my rockfords.... plus everyone at work runs boston so it's time to shock the world..... but like i said if it's low end u lackin then u not gonna be satisfied w/just aftermarket 6x9s. if that's what u plan to do then be sure to get an amp and some 6x9s w/better bass response. best thing to do is hear them for yourself... everyone has different preferences in what sounds good!

hougee,

Crutchfield said they wouldn't fit. But I'll make em fit. I didn't get them yet... should be coming in at the end of the week. Send me an email at CLTypeR@hotmail.com.

I'll keep you updated. I fit Focal 6.5 speakers in my front doors with major modifications to the door cover. So I figure 6x9's should be easy. I modded the back to fit 6.5's too.

Let me know...

3 ways .... the ones that can swivel ... the only issue in space is the little bars for the trunk lid ... but they clear em by a few centimeters ... just have to pull on em a bit to get the speakers in ... but after that they dont touch at all
