Adding on to the Factory 2.3 Stereo

I have the '98 2.3 and want to add in an amp. When I look at the wiring harness I can figure out which speakers are the front ones without to much trouble, but making the connections will be tight.

Is there an adapter harness the OEM one could plug into and then have the adapter plug into the Deck?

Also, I hear Metra 72-7000 or DW7800's will plug into the existing speaker plug and give me the (+)/(-) bare leads I need to replace the rear speakers. Any ideas where in Canada I can get these?

HM

I don't think the stock speakers can handle any more wattage. If you add in an amp, and turn the volume up all the way you will blow the speakers.

You're Right....

Speakers can't take any juice and bog out with little volume.

Suggestions on a set to replace the door and rear?
Door's are 6.5" and rear's are 6x9.

The car has tweets so should I just get mid ranges for the front, 2way for the rear, and then add in a sub?

the door is 5 1/4

i have component system and custom mount where the tweets go and put dynomat on door panel and installed 5 1/4 sub, it sounds great
install the 6x9's and hook the component system and the 6x9's and run them off an amp and get another amp to power the subs, to covers the highs - lows

what about adding an amp to the stock radio for a sub or 2?

how would you go about doing this?

for addin a sub just get a line level converter an amp and a sub and your set.

as for full system upgrades, if your going to change the speakers change them all, they are 2 ohm anyways and generally suck nutz.

get either 5.25 or 6.5 components and 6x9's for the rear, watch the mounting depths unlesss you dont mind a little work on the install.
